If you could do everything in your EVE life over again, would you? From your days as a newbie, to your choice of corps, to when you started PVPing. Would you do the same thing and enjoy every moment of your history or would you do things completely differently? _______________

TBH my only regret is signing up for eve, deciding about an hour later I didnt like it and then returning in a year to play for real... I could have had way more SP's :\

I wouldn't have bothered with 95% of the corps I ran missions for, my standings list is epic long for it
I would've specialized gallente/caldari more (i'm still working on it, but I have decent SPs in minmatar skills that I don't frankly care for, and I'd rather have some capital ship skills)
I would've kept my accounts active, cause I'd probably have 50% more SP
I would've gotten into alliance warfare and otherwise earlier, I was a carebear in my early days and got bored pretty quick with the game
Also, it pains me to think of my mission setups back when I was a noob |

I'd pay a lot more attention to what modules actually do and what all those numbers really mean. I stayed a newb WAY too long for my own good because of that. My ship fittings from 2006 were pretty much universally horrible and often consisted of just slapping together looted items without any sort of focus. |

Now that I've gotten a few good responses and don't have to worry about adding bias I'll give my thoughts.
I joined eve after hearing about the GHSC event. I was enthralled by the brutal nature of EVE from the start. Honestly as a whole IĈm extremely glad I got into PVP early. I found a great corp and have friends I've known for years because of EVE. If I could relive EVE sure I would do a few small things differently, but as a whole I'm extremely happy with the decisions I made and where I ended up. I might change a few things, but overall I would go down the same road over again if I had the choice.
Also, when I first looked at EVE I wanted to be a freelancing mercenary giving lowsec protection. I wanted to eventually fly a logistics ship fitted with ECM, Recon Cruisers weren't out yet, and defender missiles . Yeah I was a newb back then lol. |

If i could go back and change what I'd done..... I'd have picked up more corpses along the way, and probably not have gone afk for 5 min that time that domi jumped into my belt then slow boated up to me. Other than that my only regrets are the massive breaks caused by crappy internet and excessive moving.

Aren't you still?
I too would love to go back in time and start fresh, with my current knowledge of the game. Another thread, not long ago, asked a similar question, about the server crashing and no backup so the devs would start EVE and patch again chronological, would we start again? My answer was yes, if patches was done like they have so far. Being an oldtimer, that would give me a HUGE advantage, as I still remember some good ways to make money that has now been removed.
But not only that would be good, I would also be able to focus more on the skills that I actually use today. Sure, it's awesome being 5 years old in this game and be able to fly just about every ship and use every module, but I'm still lacking in so many areas and I have so many redundant skills. They seemed useful at the time of training, but starting all over would give me a MUCH better character than CrayC is now... But then again, that's what alts are for and I do have my perfect little baby training already. She's almost been at it for 3 years now

This character is the result of me starting over all again (my old mains have gone inactive since forever) and it was great, restarting knowing what to do and how to do it, optimising attributes and focussed skill training. People thinking "it's just a <x> month newb, how good can he be" and then get B-slapped.
Still haven't found my way back into a proper 0.0 alliance though, mainly because I'm not interested in being used by people with hidden personal/political agendas. Would I find a proper corp with people who are active and willing to put in effort while having the feeling that they have a genuine teamwork thing going, I'd apply.
So yes, I've done things completely differently and I enjoy the fact that this char has more focus.

I would not.
Not to say it hasn't been fun, it has. But the grief outweigh the benefits and it's a game, after all. The problem I have is with the mechanics, which are dreadfully flawed - don't get me started on the whole 0G thing. Too many disconnects with losses, blobs, exploits, Jita and political crap with alliance wars and GM tampering as whole is just plain wrong. Oh did I mention petitions?
It's tough to cut losses and quit altogether. It has its appeal and there's that 'one-armed bandit' appeal to it, "just one more pull and I'll get a break".
Yeah, right.
I'd stay away, save some money, maybe kiss a girl. |

If I could go back and start from scratch I would start all 4 account's straight away as to gain those SP's sooner rather than later. PvP Account, Capital Pilot Account, Industrial Account and Scientific Account. All would be Amarr for the RP aspect and I would probably have my group rule providence and catch, NBSI ftw.
To be honest though I think I would just have my characters specialised in their field. Pretty much it.

This question pops up from time to time.. well.. I dunno really. If I'd try to be more 'smart' in my skilltraining the game might've been more boring as well. I'm enjoying EVE as it is right now and I can do/fly what I want. In light of that; no I wouldn't change anything. Tho it would've been nice if I'd been more effective both in skills as in iskmaking in the early days. |
