Originally by: Marguerite Antiki The theme of this letter is not "AncientLord's defeatism movement is reminiscent of the French Jacobin Club and its morbid obsession with power, death, and onanism." By now, you've already heard countless arguments running in that vein and are probably pretty sick of them. The theme of this letter is "AncientLord consistently falls short of telling the whole story or of making a solid point." The rest of this letter is focused exclusively on AncientLord, not because I harbor any ill-will towards him but because I respect the English language and believe in the use of words as a means of communication. Apolaustic mendicants like him, however, consider spoken communication as merely a set of noises uttered to excite emotions in gloomy politicos in order to convince them to do the devil's work. His underlings claim to have no choice but to advocate lazy statements. I wish there were some way to help these miserable, effrontive miscreants. They are outcasts, lost in a world they didn't make and don't understand.
If AncientLord doesn't realize that it's generally considered bad style to diminish society's inducements to good behavior, then he should read one of the many self-help books on the subject. I recommend he buy one with big print and lots of pictures. Maybe then AncientLord will grasp the concept that my goal is to get him to realize that by working together, we can defy him. Of course, if he insists on remaining an ignorant, uninformed, and ill-informed smut peddler, that's his prerogative.
AncientLord likes to compare his outbursts to those that shaped this nation. The comparison, however, doesn't hold up beyond some uselessly broad, superficial similarities that are so vague and pointless, it's not even worth summarizing them. When confronted with the real facts, he usually defends himself with some weak explanation about how this is the best of all possible worlds and that he is the best of all possible people. Think I'm exaggerating? Just ask any of the most valuable members of our community and they'll all tell you how every time he tells his helpers that one can understand the elements of a scientific theory only by reference to the social condition and personal histories of the scientists involved, their eyes roll into the backs of their heads as they become mindless receptacles of unsubstantiated information, which they accept without question. Not only have corrupt, feral blockheads decided to glorify their plans for the future by dressing them up as moral and righteous prerogatives but their propositions are being debated as though they were actually reasonable. I discussed this topic in a previous letter, so I will not go into great detail now, but if you think you can escape from AncientLord's namby-pamby beliefs, then good-bye and good luck. To the rest of you I suggest that he wants us to believe that we can solve all of our problems by giving him lots of money. We might as well toss that money down a well because we'll never see it again. What we will see, however, is that my long-term goal is to resolve a number of lingering problems. Unfortunately, much remains to be done. As you may have noticed, if AncientLord can overawe and befuddle a sufficient number of prominent individuals then it will become virtually impossible for anyone to embark on a new path towards change. Lastly, that is no excuse.
Quoting for enjoyment.
