I've been getting level 4 Serpentis Blockade quite a bit the last few weeks. I'm just curious as to what mods are best fit to counter as counters.
I've been fitting a Sensor Booster II and a Signal Amplifier II. Would I get better results with from a backup sensor array in the lows?
I've also been getting quite a few more Gurista missions which seem to almost always have some sort of obnoxious ECM component.
I've been running this mission in the domi since I can sacrifice more slots for counter mods without really hurting dps. |

two of the best things you can do is use a drone boat like the domi, or a missile boat with FOF missiles. |

Well, SeBo and Sensor Amp are for countering Sensor Dampners, reducing locking time on targets, and increasing locking range. To counter ECM you'll need ECCM or Sensor Backup Arrays. |

ECCM is the counter for ECM. Sensor Booster/Signal Amp is the counter for Remote Sensor Dampening (Serpentis) |

For ECM, ECCM modules for your ships sensor strength will help your chances. There are also implants for each type of sensor strength.
However, it is chance based and since few people in this game understand chance, you should get plenty of anecdotal evidence here about how ECCM doesn't help at all. Point is, more ECCM will mean a higher sensor strength and thus a lower chance that you will be jammed. But each time the NPCs try to jam you, that is a new roll of the dice.
So, good luck. |

An afterburner. Or a MWD. The amount of damping you get on the second wave basically means you have to get close rather than trying to just boost your own targeting range.
Drones do an alright job on that particular mission as well. Nothing will agro drones until the frigates on the last wave, so set for aggressive and let the little buggers do their thing.

I use an AC Mael with an Afterburner, two Signal Amplifiers and a range scripted Sebo. Or I would use it, if I still accepted that mission. |

It's not really a 'mod' but for those I now use an alt in a tanky tengu. He sits there and draws the aggro / ECM while I kill them.
Those missions were a bit of a shock to me. Until recently I'd only really run minmatar missions, but in my recent efforts to rehabilitate my amarr and caldari standings I started meeting a lot more of those sorts of missions ... evil things that they are.

Thanks.
I think I'll try the AB Mael next time and see how it does. I'm used to running a sentry domi so not used to thinking about being mobile. Running the sentries I did usually just let either the gardes or wardens sit out and do their thing while hoping they didn't pop the trigger ship(s).
It seems that either the number of ships dampening or the intensity has been increased lately. Ran The Assault last night and got damped hard on the first pocket. I've run it before and I don't remember it being quite that bad. |

If you aren't really committed to an area, simply moving away from Serpentis and Guristas may be easier. The ECM from rats in Minmatar and Amarr space is significantly easier to deal with, though whichever one of them does the tracking disruption (Angels?) would make gunboats harder to use. If you use missiles for PVE then Amarr or Minmatar space is pretty good. |

With Blockade this would be one of the worst things you could do without a good tank.
The only thing you can do with damps is a sebo and range script. |

NPC don't seem to use EWAR until they are in turret range. Staying out of their range works for me (I orbit at 105 km).

Sanshas = TD Blood = neut/occasional TD Angels = target painters (yes, I'm serious) Serpentis = damps Guristas = ECM

stop flying a drone boat for that mission. use something with heavy turret dps and drop the dampener ships as soon as they appear. tank the battleships if you have to but the dampener ships are primaries |

Better said than done when you can have 4 damps on you. |

True, especially when the cruisers damping you have faster lock times. (Made even faster if you have a SEBO with a range script since that shoots your lock time through the roof).
Range worked nicely. I used a 1400 fit Mael and destroyed stuff over a 100km rather nicely. On any Serp mission a cruiser size ship with 'safe' in the name is primaried. Though some of the BSs and frigs can also damp you.
I like the idea of moving to a new area. It's probably getting close to time to find new space to hang in anyway. |
