You should also consider where your skill points are spent, shield and armor tanking uses totally different skill sets (apart from cap skills). If you want a mission ship, I would hang on for a Cyclone or some such.

sadly you will need plenty of learning for all paths, I wish they would change the starts, so you get LOTS of learning and no skill above level 1 outside of that. I went the miner way, you are in a retriver REALLY fast, an t2 strips are also fast...
