If you aren't completely new it's hard to imagine you don't know even that much about nullsec territorial holdings, so they assumed you were just making a jab at Ken. But to answer your actual question, no, a 46 system loss or whatever is a huge, huge indication that something bad is happening. Usually it's just a couple of systems lost or gained in a week for each of the major nullsec alliances.

I thought Eve was supposed to be the intelligent mmo.
Goonswarm has lost sovereignty in about 46 in the past week.
Only today are they gaining a couple. Only the new systems are in a new place. Looks like they are moving house.

We are not sure just how intelligent it really is at the moment. Some of nodes are definately self-aware (Jita for instance). But many of the others don't show much intelligence at all.
