i patched the manual way properly, as it was posted in the write-up, but it keeps saying Sisi is 'unknown', and it did the startup countdown, and repeated from 5 seconds counting down, over and over. is the server down, or is there a problem i need to fix?

I believe this is what we call extended downtime... normally followed by a patch *hopes*

Read the message : SiSi DT changed. The loops etc are server booting up. Just be patient.

SISI daily downtime was moved to 7:30-9:00 GMT.
On top of that, they're busy with actual development.
Basically, just be patient, it will be back sometime today.
... and I really think they should boost T2 plate HP.

20 minutes isn't much :D just go make some food and it'll be back >.>
My bet is we'll get a note from CCP saying "We broke something but now it's fixed enjoy"

I think i'd be happier if they put extending downtime till X rather than teasing us desperate to explore the new ideas.
Now back to looking at ideas :D

6:25 PM, eastern time. server status still 'unknown'. is it broke for good, or is it because i tried to join?

The server has a definite downtime of 7:30 - 9:00, but this server is not a must have online, they are getting the kinks worked out and adding more stuff. Just give it time and keep checking back every so often. They bring it online when there's new stuff to test. Chill out and have a coke.

OK, so it looks like the next patch is here, and it looks like nothing done with wormholes. What sucks is that it seems there doing this on purpose so no one gets a heads up on WH-space before it hits the live server.

I believe Sisi and TQ are polar opposites. Whereas TQ is down for ~1hr per day, Sisi is operating for ~1hr per day.
