hi. im a long time mmo player and ive seen alot. And so im gonna detail a concept that i think Eve misses, to draw certain new players in (who prefer a particular play-style) who would normally not play eve, or who would leave Eve after some while, in its current state-of-the-game.
Its the concept where combat orientated people can relaxedly farm for items and mobs, for only a short time if they wish so or if they only have limited time, without having to fly missions all the time, and still have the feeling to have accomplished something.
It includes new agents, who dont give out missions, but who accept collected items for rewards.
And secondly, it includes static NPC-Hotspots, with tiered rats. The NPC-Hotspots had to be in Deadspace-Areas aka DUNGEONS. To not go against the whole standings-system, the access to those NPC-hotspots would be dependand on one¦s standing, much as in missions. But the highest tier hotspots would of course include Battleships, similar to the highest tier missions.
Once someone has the appropriate standing, they could always access these static NPC hotspots, which could be found in almost every solar system. Everybody with the proper standing could go into the same Deadspace-Area, so they wouldnt be instanced like the Mission-Deadspaces.
These NPC hotspots could be decorated with station-ruins and whatnot, to make them more interesting. The Rats in these NPC-Hotspots would have collectibles on their loot-tables, additional to their regular salvage and loot, which could be turned in at the new agents for rewards.
To not go against the whole ratting system, the rats in the NPC hotspots would of course NOT drop any faction loot.
From my point of view, this would add ALOT to the game. It would give the players the feeling, that they have even more choices how to get isk and rewards.

I think i'd rather quit than let Eve become more like WoW..... You realise that eve had lots of DED plexes which were always there then removed them which made Eve a better place.
The collection idea is what agents already do.
but the hot spots would just be full of pirates even in high sec and it'd be chaos and crap and lame and just no.

Which agents (that i dont know of) are already doing that collection thing.
Why the hotspots be chaos and crap and lame

The "NPC hotspots" that you just described sounds exactly like the complexes that there already are allover the Eve universe. You just need to probe them down (work a little bit for them) and voilT!
Stop trying to make Eve "more like other MMOs". Eve is PvP based it is for that exact reason that I (and most of the 200k players online) play it. If you want a NPC based game with dungeons and item farming as a goal, go play another MMO. There are loads of them.

woot. If some player had suggested the wormhole idea, it would be exaclty the same people like you who would have written the same negative crap. Sometimes i have the feeling that the Ideas forum is only full of Backward-People who have nothing else to do but spread their negativity 24/7 towards new ideas.

Not at all mate. I just get annoyed at the people that wants to turn Eve into a PvE game with "safe heavens" or "Consensual PvP" or "Give us more rats to shoot at". Eve is the only MMO that I know of that is completely PvP based (even tho it has PvE aspects, it is not cut off the PvP part of the game) and for as long as I am an active player, I will defend that PvP concept.
If you put up a new thread with good ideas about how to improve the PvP experience of the game, I can ensure you that you will not be flamed (by me). But starting a crapy thread about "Space dungeons" that is in fact very similar to a feature that there already is in game, ofcourse you will get bad response. This is what a forum is about... "Discussion"!!! ;)

You have a ridiculous amount of ways to make isk in this game. Not other game comes close to Eve when it comes to options on making money. I have been playing since 05 and have yet to fully experience every profession this game has to offer.

Orly. At least keep your story straight when you try to argue. This thread has nothing to do with safe heavens or consensual pvp. Lrn2read the OP.

The only thing thats crappy here is your reply. Theres no similar feature in the game. There are many people who just like fighting npcs high sec and who do not always want to run missions. My idea is nothing but another form of missions, to have more choices and to not be forced to farm the same missions over and over again. Other than that, it has not even an impact to the PVP or anything else in this game.

the most laughable and pathetic thing is, that you two negative posters even contradict yourself in your negativity. The one guy doesnt like the idea because he fears to much pirate activity in those npc hubs, the other guy doesnt like the idea because he thinks it will hurt the pvp in the game.
and now you two can crawl back under your stones.

Seen that pattern before?
The difference between you an me here Tamahra is that I am telling you that I don't like your idea. You are trying to tell me that you don't like ppl like me.
I still think you should go to a 0.0 system and start probing for cosmic anomalies and you will see that your idea is already in the game. There are those in highsec too.... but with less reward ofcourse ;)

3. OP argues why the second guy made a crappy reply

Because from what I have been told WoW and serveral other major MMORPG's have massive dungeons where "Rare items" are found however they aren't random and are based on timers that countdown.
Where I might have not played games that do this which are modern it's not something i'd pay for as this would be areas where older players would know everything and you'd not dare come as you'd be killed or beaten to the race.
Originally by: Tamahra

I am referring to agent missions where you have to recover an item or move items from one area to another.
Also to items such as the overseer's personal effects, which people obtain from deep space complexes sell to concord stations for isk.
Originally by: Tamahra

Well can you imagine 2,000 of the 20-40k online in one area all trying to get the same thing..... it'd be madness, Eve is not built to make life easy it's not really built to be a realistic space game.
This is in the sense you don't plot warps, nor do you have free controls on the ship's movement or firearms.
However you do have the mean and cruelness of space with the same randomness that one would expect.
For example Maybe in WoW trolls may live in a cave, we expect this, but in space why would a pirate stay still if millions of people are after it's head? you wouldn't you'd move around.
The same is true for minerals and such that disappear over time you need to go explorer for more.
I personally think you need to accept eve for what it is Dark, Cruel and Awesome.
Also in all honesty your ideas don't make life easier for new players but harder as they would have to compete harder against each other and older players.
What newer players need is a quick shove into the dangers of un secure space and brief tour on how things work then based on the path they choose agent missions which help develop the player, unless of course they want to join a giant alliance etc :), but something to give them their space legs if you get what i mean

Thank you but it isnt like my life would be dependant on if they implement it or not.
I like Eve alot, but i would like it even more with the feature i suggested. And i bet countless other players would like eve alot more too.
If they do not implement it, then so be it.

Having read the OP I have to say I think we already have the majority of these ideas in game in the form of explorable content.
Id be the first to acknowledge that this explorable content isn't reached as easily as it could be - but thats all set to change with the new scan probe system. Within a couple of minutes whilst testing on SISI I was able to find half a dozen, or more, NPC site locations of varying difficulty and length providing a huge amount of PVE game play.

I seem to remember this very thing happening years ago. The wormhole idea was absolutely hammered in the forums, but now it is lauded. Funny how peoples opinions change given the right context.
I had posited a similar idea to the OP's myself, as a way to get people into lowsec, by having areas in numerous systems where there were nebulae. Inside the nebulae were higher-value NPCs (the reasoning being that they were harder to find, so warranted a higher bounty). This would attract people in, and pirates could also enter the 'complex' and hunt down the other player. Of course, there were other issues, like preventing pirate camps by having ever-increasing spawns of NPCs dependent on an individual's time spent in the nebula, and limiting ship sizes in some areas to keep combat within the same class, but I liked the idea. It was getting people into lowsec, and it was drawing some of the combat away from the gates.
I don't see this as 'dumbing down' the game, more of a refinement of existing ideas. And as for those complaining about adding 'dungeons', they already exist, only EVE calls them complexes.
I'm not quite sure why there is so much hatred for WoW amongst EVE players, as they're completely different games. I quite enjoy WoW, and it is a much easier game (which doesn't make it bad, as EVE is quite a challenging game), but it still isn't the game for idiots that some people make out. There are idiots in the game, but there are in EVE too. It comes down to this: if I want space combat and strategic thinking, I'll go to EVE, and if I want fantasy that is quick and easy fun, I'll go to WoW.
I did find one WoW-hate post in the EVE forums which was identical to one in the WoW forums that went on about hating EVE. In fact, it had simply been copied and pasted and just a few words changed. What was the point of this? I don't know, but it does show that there are people moaning about WoW who secretly play it.

Many of the features you're describing already exist in the game, so I suspect you're either unaware of them, or you haven't tried them. The truth is that EVE offers a LOT of different options for the solo player to not get bored and to explore the vast EVE universe since that's what you're describing as a shortcoming. There's ratting, static plexes, COSMOS missions, exploration, etc. where you can kill your boredom in relative safety.
The issue with your suggestion is that you're looking for a guarantee of safety, which goes against everything EVE stands for. The thing that makes EVE stand out from other MMOs is that you're never safe, and there's always a chance, even if small, that another player will attack you and steal your stuff. If EVE ever changes that, it's done. I say if people leave the game because they feel they're never safe and can't handle it no matter what they try, then that's OK.

when was a wormhole idea introduced in the past ? and it was most likely instanced space like missions, so it got no support.
current wormhole idea is an extension of the eve universe just the connections are not gates but unstable wormholes. new regions are always welcomed ... --- SIG --- CSM: your support is needed ! |

I don't see how catering even more to the needs and desires of the most boring, anti-social and disinterested solo farmer players would do any good to the game as a whole. Especially by implementing a special mechanism.
What EVE needs in my opinion is more interactive content. More things that happen. Not more farm grounds for zombies.

there are several other methods that I would sugest before going this route. first I would revamp the current very tedious misson system and make it much easier and smoother to aquire and manage quests more like searching the want adds and allow some misson giver types to not kill your faction just because you decide to turn down a misson for them .
There should be a destinct difference between solo/semi solo missons and group/corp missons (semi-solo means that it might take several sortes to fully complete)

it would be quite a very interactive content, since the NPC hotspots wouldnt be instanced, so you would meet other pilots on a regular basis.
They should even make it so that the agents for this are not sitting in stations. they should place them around moons, similar to some storyline agents.
The most intense gameplay feeling i had when i warped to a data-center where you couldnt dock, but could get missions and the like. and it was even more fun to see other pilots hanging up there too.

what these self declared pvp gods (or at least they think they are) fail to grasp is, that many combat orientated players like to build up a good financial backup in empire first before they go to low sec or 0.0. and the more different ways they have to build up their backup the more fun they have with eve online and the more players low sec and 0.0 will see.
