Thorax is the best for fighting other cruisers, frigates and mining. Its a great all round ship and is ahead of the others. I have one, but I use my turbo-rupture now because its fun :)
Once the supersize module nerf comes in I will be returning to my Thorax and joining the crowd of Thorax pilots. Not that I'm bitter, but my previous favorite before the Rupture was my Tempest. Thanks CCP thats 2 ships in as many months made absolutely useless.

Seriosly, I dunno what it is, but Arbitrators do rock. Armor tank, with a couple pulse lasers and a missile launcher, plus 6 ogres = great fun. People talk about having trouble with the "gone berserk" agent mission, but when I'm in my arbi, I just wish there were more waves. Easy as pie. Quite a little nugget that ship is.

If you want to state otherwise, first please explain why 3 out of 4 cruisers seen travelling along the highway systems are Raxes.

As a successful safespot-hunter, I can say that I just love finding Thoraxes.
They're almost always covered in miner 2's and sometimes have a drone bay with a brood of harvesters in there.
Thoraxes, in my experience, are the most common cruiser I've found floating around in space. They make me millions. I love em! :)
Also, I think they look damn cool.

The Thorax is a good general purpose cruiser that can fight npc's and mine. HOWEVER, it's not that good in PvP. The lack of missile turrets, the minimal mid slot and the general low Power Grid, make it easy prey to even a modest pilot in a BlackBird.
This I know from experience...
Maybe if you'd stop thinking about PvP and start PvP you'd learn that they are not the "End all, Be all " of cruiser's. This will be all the more apparent with the comming changes in drones on Tuesday.

Because 3/4 people traveling the highways are miners who like 5 miner IIs and a nice drone defense. For PVP the blackbird remains more popular, even if it wont win a 1v1 with a thorax.
