First of all - I'm a newbie. Any help will be appreciated.
I own a badger and I have these fittings and modules. http://www.oldfarts.dk/images/fittings.jpg Now - mining takes a looooong time and I want to find ways to mine faster.
I can't fit in another miner II since the ship only has 1 high powered slot. Can I upgrade the ship so it can have another high powered slot and so i can fit in another Miner II?

you cant upgrade the number of slots you have. to mine faster, use another ship. since you fly badgers, you can fly caldari frigates. so i'd go for...actually, thats quite tricky, there is no caldari ship thats good for mining :P i think the bantam has a bonus for mining, or if you have about 300k get a merlin - they can mine about twice as well as your badger, and have 2 missile bays for defense against rats. jettison the ore as you mine it, then come back in your indy to pick it up.

Edited by: Dingo78 on 08/08/2004 16:40:43 To answer your question.. No.. You can not upgrade the ships to have more high slots.. or any other slots for that matter.
The Badger is for hauling gods.. not mining. so if you want faster mining, get a ship with more turret capable high slots.. Since you already are using a caldari industrial, I'll assume you are Caldari. (doh) Try the Bantam for mining.. (or MOA if you have the cash/skills)..
(note.. the badger mark II has 2 high slots, dont get fooled cause it can only hold one turret)
((heh.. I took to long to answer , looks like Shimatu covered it nicely..)

FYI Osprey/Vexor will be the best mining cruisers soon. Osprey = 20% to mining yield per level -> twice the yield at level 5.

altho it will take longer I'd recommend that you train Minmatar Frigate 2 and get a probe, its a great little mining ship and has a decent cargo hold. It can carry enough drones to look after you in 0.8+ too.... (or it could back when I was doing this sort of thing) -- We are the Octavian Vanguard www.octavianvanguard.net http://www.serenitymovie.com |

Actually its the Osprey(Caldari) and Scythe(minmater) level 1 cruisers that are both getting that same bonus. Since both are fairly cheap, it should help out new people getting into bigger ships. Since you have an industrial already, that means you have at least level 3 frigate skills with caldari. So I'd train frigate to 4, and get ahold of caldari cruiser skill asap. Then get the Osprey as soon as you have money, and use it to mine, and the hauler to move the ore till you can get something better.

Actually, the best mining frigate is the Vigil, as it's the only frigate that can manage 120m¦ (or more, with skills) per minute and still defend itself. It can mount the 2 Miners II's, and still mount a standard missile launcher and carry a hammerhead for protection in high-sec space.
The only Caldari frigate that has enough CPU for 2 Miner II's is the Griffin, but it only has 1 turret mount and 100m¦ drone bay.
The only Gallente frigate with enough CPU is the Maulus, but it's not got a missile mount, and only has 150m¦ drone bay - enough for a hammerhead and a light drone.
The Amarr frigate with enough CPU is the Crucifier, but it also doesn't have a missile mount, and only 100m¦ drone bay.
The upcoming drone changes might change these lineups, making any of these other frigates viable mining platforms, but as it stands, you're stuck with a Vigil, which isn't that bad, as the Vigil is one of the best frigates available IMO
