I have to agree, as it stands. To test something for bugs it has to at the very least function most of the time. What point is it on testing something where about 90% of it's new features are so bugged out that it is impossible to tell what is supposed to happen.
Originally by: "Wikipedia" A software bug is an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program that prevents it from behaving as intended (e.g., producing an incorrect or unexpected result).
When the entire feature (or "new" software if you like) is characterized by Errors, Flaws, Mistakes, Failures and Faults it should be classified as a software bug in it's entirety. Thus, what is the point in reporting smaller bugs within a system that in it self is a bug that would need to be stripped down and redone? Only when most of it works can real bug hunting begin. As it is now, the bug is visible right from the get go!
Originally by: "Wikipedia" A program that contains a large number of bugs, and/or bugs that seriously interfere with its functionality, is said to be buggy.
Note the use of "Large number of bugs" rather than "made up entirely of bugs".
Originally by: "Wikipedia" Reports detailing bugs in a program are commonly known as bug reports, fault reports, problem reports, trouble reports, change requests, and so forth.
Detailing bugs eh? It would be easier to tell you guys WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS than telling you what doesn't! Unless we fall back on that same principle i described above... The whole feature is a bug. And to make any good use of it requires that its expected functionality exist as the norm. Such a flawed system should be obvious to the developer.
Further more, two builds back, the testers got a good list compiled on things that needed to be fixed. But in the current build, it's a complete remake. It's like asking your friend to find what is wrong with your cars engine and when he find the problem you install an engine that lacks pistons, crankshaft, head, valves and oil sump. And ask him to find out what is wrong once more. It's an insult to your testers...

After last 2 or 3 patches on test server I haven't been been able to get past the station loading progress bar with a black background after I log in and select a character, has anyone else had this problem?
As far as I can tell I have the correct spec graphics cards and up to date drivers I have NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache and an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 (maybe not the best but all I have at this time ) both as far as i can tell should be supported by the new EVE Premium Lite (is this in testing yet?).

Yes, several others have this problem. Please see the dev post at the top for what to do.

Yes, the Premium Lite client is in testing and has been since Apocrypha was deployed to Singularity. Everyone running this patch automatically plays with the Premium client.

Build 80627
Pod/Ship is invisible.
Pod appeared for a brief time and turned into what looked like a cloaked Apoc then went vanished once I undocked.
Anything I buy on market doesn't appear in my hanger, that includes mods and ships. They cant be found in an assets search either.
Map isn't working correctly, nothing is highlighted or colored when I choose statistics option e.g. number of ships destroyed etc.
All this in less than 2 mins play after my 3rd full repatch in as many days.
Hmmmmmm....think I'll skip Sisi for a week or two |

from the looks of the logserver the crash is happening while the display is being initialized.

Problem: Moving Probes (only 1 of them can be moved at a time, so move/scan/move... its a lot of wasted time)
Workaround: After moving a probe close and open the scanner window. The probe will warp/move and its faster than using scan every move.

Edited by: Venatoris Portucalis on 21/02/2009 09:04:45 Devs, have you guys by any chance been talking to microsoft devs? if u have please don't listen to them. We already have a software company that makes programs that think they know better than the users... it hasnt work well... Don't remove options from graphics and make decisions by the users, the guy siting on the client side, knows much more about his machine that the guys sitting on the server side. Make suggestions, i.e. check the hardware, and pre-set the defaults to what you think is best, BUT LEAVE the option for the user to change it the way he likes!! This way u have the better of both worlds, users that really don't know what they are doing get the defaults best for their machines, the other can still tailor EVE for they purpose.
Vena
p.s. can we have EVE WITHOUT intelligent windows? You know, like the market window that decides by itself to open and have the same size has the local chat window, if fits so nice. Or the scanner window that sometimes thinks we really need to move out fleet and chat out of the way...right in the middle of a fight... i really would love windows with no brains (i do have enough for me and the windows )

I just want to say if anyone has had trouble patching sisi, and the exe file of the patcher downloaded but it didnt patch to the resources etc, I downloaded both manualy, and the exe file kept dissapearing and it wouldnt patch still, until i realised my 'stopzilla' spyware blocker was on, i turned it off as it was picking up the exe file as spyware and deleting it, also i closed any other stopzilla programs which were still running in the background through processes on the task manager, and then the patch worked fine.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding how the turret hardpoint modifier works, or maybe there's a cap. The Legion 11111 setup has a modifier of five from the offensive subsystem and two from the engineering subsystem, but I only appear to get five turrets. Somewhere In England |

still can't buy anything on the market ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

- The capacitor in strategic cruisers may not rechaege in certain configurations. BR 71339.
Workaround: fit a cap-affecting active module, eg, NOS, injector. Simply having it fitted apparently causes the recharge to unbork iself. ... and I really think they should boost T2 plate HP.

1) ID 71292 scanning window - (combat) filters dont work... at all... shows drones and everything, no matter what presets you save/choose - except for
2) ID 71295 missing or obsolete filters - still no strategic cruiser probe'able - but we sure can probe for warp disruption drones, unanchoring drones, and apart from black ops& marauders, there's an option for "elite battleships" - similar with POS structures - which can't be probed anyway due to the current maths that also allow (remote) ECCM to make even BS invulnerable to being probed - putting the gist back into logistics |

I recreated my Singularity client today to see if it would fix the black screen issue. (Note still not working properly after the last patch. I am able to work around it, though. I should have a bug reported submitted shortly.) I found when I started the client that the graphics were corrupt from the login screen and beyond. The eve logo (EVE Online--Apocrypha) was only a solid grey box and the rest of the sreen was corrupt displaying purple and red boxes randomly. In space, much of the textrues only displayed as squares with only the UI windows displaying properly.
First I tried clearing the cache and deleting user folders to fix the black screen issue. This is where the corruption first occurred. Clearing cache and files didn't work so I recreated my singularity client, and the corruption still showed up (and hoping I would fix the black screen issue, too). I decided I should check graphics settings to see what they were set at and maybe adjust them. I found that HDR was checked by default along with bloom. Please note that I'm running under a graphics card that only supports SM 2.0. I'm a bit out of touch on what each model spec supports, but I'm guessing HDR as implemented in the EVE client isn't supported by SM2.
My issue is thus. The EVE client needs to do one of two things: check for supported hardware before enabling certain graphics options as default OR leave special options disabled to start and allow users to enable them later. Another option would be to allow the users to set options from the patcher or installer before the game is ran for the first time.

I haven't been able to get the map to work at all since 2 patches ago.
I can get the star map up,but it wont flatten, and getting a solar system map up to place probes is impossible.Just a black screen with no icons or anything.Playing with settings doesnt help either, just buggers everything else up. |
