I've heard that if you only want 1 point in an indy, the Bestower is best. If you want 4, the Mammoth or Badger II's are best. And if you want all five, the Iteron V beats all. Is this pretty much accurate?
Also, are new Industrials supposed to be added to fill in the gaps, or are the Indys considered balanced in this state and no future ships should be expected?

Correct, except that the badger-II is a lvl 3 indy, and isnt as good at hauling as a bestower. Has a ton of midslots though, so it can actually survive pretty well, and properly set up can easily gank interceptors.
Otherwise, the best value for training time is the Mammoth. The Iteron5 is huge, but takes a full million skillpoints just in indy 5 to fly.

How does the Bestower stack up at level 4? I'm probably going to use an industrial, and as an Amarr, want to train it to get the most bang out of my skill points.

It's a reasonably effective indy, I think better than a badger-II at lvl 4. Inferior to a mammoth though, so its worth your time to train minmatar industrial instead (unless you have a roleplay objection to that).

Mammoth is the best indy out there, I blow by IT V's all the time with full expanders....
Love watching those things come out a station though :-)

I fly a Badger Mark II, I'm Caldari and figured I wouldn't waste money and points on another races skills if I didn't really have to.
With 3 Expander I's, my capacity is 9,918 M3. Not too shabby if you ask me. I can haul 3 Giant cans in it.

With 3 Expander I's, my capacity is 9,918 M3. Not too shabby if you ask me. I can haul 3 Giant cans in it.
