Edited by: Marcus Aurelius on 09/08/2004 10:16:45 Hmm, only ran across one yet and it wasnt that remarkable.
5.5 million trit and 1.75 million mex. For 0.0 that is a treasure however. Net worth in 0.0 there is still a cool 40-50 million.
edit: oh, and was alone in my scorp so i just engaged the haulers at range spamming cruises and only closed in for the kill. Worked fine as the escorts left me be while doing it. Much to easy actually.

One only spotterd yesterday during a patrol. Found 2.04M pyerite, one hauler escaped me, alone I had to engage all those escort ships so... My guessing is that the total would be 3.06M Pyerite tho, even if I0'm not so expert in hunting... well, actually in hunting NPC

I remember once, a few months ago when FA decided to send a hauler with I think 20k megacyte and 50k zydrine into FD-MLJ unprotected, poor bastard :P
Also just now an hour ago we destroyed a megathron carrying 6700 megacyte and 4500 zydrine.

EDIT: Ok.... gotta reread titles of topics... that wasnt a hauler, as you may of guessed, but still....

There are three different things talked about here.
1. player indies (not relevant to the topic) 2. NPC convoys (are NPW haulers but not the ones meant here) 3. NPC haulers from the new NPC mining op spawns.
We are talking about #3. These mining ops occurr in all security zones afaik, but the loot, difficulty and bounty will vary from one security rating to another.
Killing NPC convoy in high sec space is only worth it for tech 2 components, and yes it can be done, Dont ask me how cause I havent done any in the last 9 months.
The NPC mining op haulers are very rare, and usually guarded by a few of the hardest NPC's one would normally meet in that security zone. A 0.0 mining op for example will usually be guarded by 2 BS's of 500K-1.5mill and a load of cruisers and or frigs. They can be hard to kill if you get targeted by the whole load of NPC's.

No, but the sentries and faction fleets will, let alone the convoys themselves (do decent damage up close).
Onyl way is from outside sentry range, and what that is is something of a mystery.

That was great. It's hard to build things when you have plenty of high-ends but no low-ends.
A few nights ago in Delve I killed one with 28k nocx and ~3M trit. Couldn't hold the trit of course, but the nocx was nice. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |
