depends on what you gonna do with the battleship I guess, I have almost 6M skillpoints now and I¦m going to wait until 9-10M or so anyway before I go into one.
but to your question, got to have skills: engineering, electronics, gunnery nice to have skills: drones, weapon upgrades, navigation, energy sys op, missile op Then depending on course of action, more gunnery skills to 5/engineering skills/missile skills/mining skills
Over all its not really about how many lvl 5 skills you got before battleship but how many lvl 4 skills you got and in what areas, its better to get 4-5 lvl 4 then one lvl 5 skill when your starting off.

well i have 4 mill skill point's at the moment
i got in my tempest BS when i had about 3 mill
it's not the skill point's that u need to think about, it's what ur gonna do with ur BS that's the thing!
if ur going to try and PvP in it, then i'd say atleast 8 mill point's+, as PvP is all about being better then the other person
if ur going to be a miner, then any skill will do, if ur going for best miner ship(amarr apoc) then trade repair systems and hull upgrades for armor tanking
i hope this help's u abit

8 mill for PVP LOL
I can make a nice char with 2.5 mill SP that is quite valid for BS pvp... he won't be the best, but he'll surely be efficient

Yeah, I'd say around 3mil SP in the right places to be effective in a BS in PvP. And that means, Engineering 5, electronics 4/5, Gunnery 5, Missile Ops 5, Drones 5, and all the supporting gunnery, missile and engineering skills you can think of to around 4. And I would suggest getting to level 3 or 4 skill in the races of BS you want to use to be able to take good advantage of the ships innate bonus's.

2.5M Sp and you will be eaten alive in a battleship, put yourself in a blackbird or something instead. Minimum amount of SP for an efficient gun-user would probably be around 6-7M with support skills. For Raven users/ECM users 4-5M may be efficient.

Its a combination of skills and real-time PvP experience. An experienced PvPer could probably make an alt to fly a Raven and kick some serious butt with 2.5M skill points. It really depends on your ship and style.
For skills it also depends on PvP or NPC. Missles give way more bang for time in training as opposed to lets say hybrids which need 1-2M in gunnery points plus BS Lvl 3-4 to be really good.
Shield tanking is also way less skill intensive than armor tanking which really needs a couple lvl 5 mechanic skills.

I think it's amusing when people say "oh you need XXXX amount of SP's to be able to fly something properly!", without saying or listing specific skills and levels. SP total doesn't really matter, like someone else stated it real PvP experience and how you use what you have. No amount of SP's is going to save you if you suck at combat. The list I gave was at least a decent baseline, I forgot a few, but still. You don't need level 5 in everything combat related in order to survive, level 4 usually works quite nicely till you can devote more time.
What it really comes down to, is don't fly a BS until you can afford to insure it after you buy or build it. And don't fly without insurance unless you're pretty sure you gots the isk to replace it once or twice in a row.

Also!
Don't repackage a BS that is insured like a total n0ob!!
I've done this on a Mega with Platinum with many weeks left.

this is the stupidest topic I have read, get the battleship when you want the battlehship, just know that your not the strongest one out there and try and camp in 00 like an idiot.
Pure and simple, anyone can fly one once they have enough isk and skills, it's a matter of where you go and what you plan on doing.
I'd rather be with a bunch of 2 million skill battleships before I in one 4.5 million battleship owner. just seems obvious with a hit point over time issue.

For an ECM/Dampner Scorp...
Gunnary 5 Drones 5 Missile Launcher Op 5
Is just about all you need. You'll hit about as hard as a wet sponge though, and you'll have about the same survivability under fire. For pretty much anything else, I'd suggust:
Engineering 5 Electronics 5 Weapon Upgrades 5 Energy Systems Op 5 Navigation 5 Motion Prediction 5 Gunnary 5 Drones 5 Missile Launcher Op 5 Hull Upgrades 5 Mechanic 5
And of course, the skills that arent essential, just very helpful:
Signature Analysis 5 Targeting 5 Energy Managment 5 Shield Managment 5 Every Gunnary Skill 5 Battleship 5 -------------------------------------------- CONCORD: Kneecapping Pilots for Misdemeanors Since 2003 |
