I've just tested the beta pack on my test machine, but I didn't get around to test eve on it. Anyone that has tested EVE and the just-released sp2 for xp? (I'm using winxp pro with service pack 1 atm).

No real reason why it wouldn't work. Only thing even remotely likely to affect it is the firewall changes, but they are mainly for incoming connections, so no problems there

Well, I guess I'm the first to encounter a problem with SP2.
I usually run two accounts on 2 monitors (windowed mode) just fine. I installed SP2 last night, now if I set Eve to use the secondary display I get horrific rendering errors. Basically unplayable as I cannot get past character selection.
I havn't had a chance to try reinstalling DX9c or vid card drivers yet...

SP2 shagged my machine.
Fortunately it's a dual boot box, but i basically had to format/complete reinstall the partition that i patched with SP2 - ended up with half the windows services unable to start, snap-ins unable to load (so no access to user.group security), registry buggered, taskbar vanished, context menus bugged, etc etc. Absolute nightmare which has taken up 4 hours of my day today.
Couldn't even uninstall the thing (dependent services wouldnt start for windows installer) - couldnt reinstall the thing (encryption checking service thing wouldnt start and couldnt validate file)... i even had to use Partition Magic just to be able to save a couple of files (couldnt even drag files about on the desktop)

I'm getting the same after going SP2 yesterday, but only using one monitor. I haven't tried reinstalling drivers yet, any other suggestions in case that doesn't work? I'm currently on 4.8 drivers with an X800Pro.

Finally made it in again, turns out that setting EVE to Win98 compatability mode lets me in. Anyone know if this is an ATI, CCP or SP2 problem?

I've had the sp2 problem as well, using WinXPpro and ATI AIW 8500 video card. Eve would not get past the character selection screen without hitting the "Black Screen of Death". I had to UNINSTALL SP2 before Eve would work normally again.

I seem to be one of the only eve players thats having a problems with SP2. Since instaling Service Pack 2 i have had a series of fatal system crashes leading to my beloved PC violently shutting down and rebooting. However this only happens when i have both my accounts active at the same time - otherwise eve ticks along as usual. CCP should be taking this into consideration especially since they are now advertising second accounts for users at a cut-down price. My machine configuration has not changed and has never suffered any problems until automatic update ruined my ability to play both accounts. If anyone has had and found a solution to this problem please let me know. Damn Bill Gates

XP SP2 works fine on my machine, but then I have a hardware firewall and software clients also (Zonealarm), so I don't need to turn on the new SP2 firewall.

This isn't a CCP issue, as they have no control of changes you make to your machine once you install the EVE client. All they can do to help is publish the communication ports you need to open in order for EVE to communicate with the servers.
MS have published a number of fixes for common games that require firewall access, perhaps you should look at the MS knowledge base.
