Do you train Alts for different roles, or just concentrate on one?

Lustralis	Posted - 2004.08.09 10:51:00 - [1] Looking at the 20 million skillpoint thread and others, I've noticed that most high skilled characters are specialists. I'm training up industry ATM as those are my best attributes (Intel, Mem). Do you guys train up different characters for different roles in Eve? I mean do you have a mining alt, a combat alt etc.? (on a single account I mean).

Jim Steele	Posted - 2004.08.09 11:14:00 - [3] dont see the point in training up seperate alts on the same account and im a bit poor so wont be buying another account so im just concentration on my main, i might make a hauler alt as i dont really want to lose my implants in a bestower hauling dark ochre through 0.0! but other than that i see no need for one! i can only play with one character at a time. Death to the Galante

Then I bought 2nd account for my industrial char, and it's all peachy now -- 2004.12.29 23:33:40combatMining Pollution Cloud hits you, doing 140.0 damage.

He has a fighter main, a hauler alt and manufacturer / researcher alt. This works well for him as he has lots of demands on him from other corp memebers - and needs to be in different places at different times. His manafacuter and hauler are usually in empire at corp HQ while the fighter is deep in 0.0. It makes sense for some people to operate like this. The main benefit comes when your stuck deep in 0.0 and you have an alt with sufficient skills to do some of your 'business' or haul stuff into 0.0 without risking your main character.

Especially in the beginning when you have still a lot of skills to train, it's best to use only one character so you won't need to split your training time between two chars I never said I was healthy
