We are flying in, technically, very advanced spaceships, firing, to some extent, very advanced weaponry, but lack one of the basic ship/fleet management devices - ship transponders.
I propose that, upon joining a fleet, shipGÇÖs transponder be set (either automatically to a fleet frequency, or by a Fleet Commander stating some arbitrary value) identifying ships in that fleet as friendly, and thus differentiating locked ships by those in fleet from others.
Fleet transponders are not a novel idea and are seen everywhere, from current seafaring fleets to every spaceship in Sci-Fi, and yet we lack those.
IGÇÖm not saying that you shouldnGÇÖt be able to shoot a GÇ£friendlyGÇ¥ target, but a spaceship with advanced computers should be able to, even in the heat of battle, identify fleet members from enemy by means other than captainGÇÖs eyes.
TL;DR: Allow differentiation of locked targets by setting ship transponders to some value. __ Got an issue? Here's a tissue! |

Fleet members shouldn't be on your overview, if you're in doubt as to what to shoot, click the target on the overview just to make sure.
Also, remind me not to go out spider tanking with you. You sound trigger happy.

Um ... fleet transponders are already built into the game, that's why your fleet members turn purple. You ship can tell which ships are in your fleet just fine; though that doesn't stop you from locking and firing on them, since the computer will obey your orders (no matter how stupid those orders may be). This is working as intended.
If you're having issues locking up friendlies by accident, then you're doing something wrong, fix your overview settings. |

I don't have fleet members in overview at all. I do, however, have fleet members locked for repair in combat.

Then what's the issue? The system is working as intended. If you're shooting the people you're RRing, it's your own fault. |

So you mean the little pink squares on the locked target icon should be different from the little grey/red/orange squares on the locked target icons of non fleet members? I don't know about you, but I think pink, grey orange and red are different colours.
And why do you have guns on your logi? |

Fair enough on that point, I'm too used to being a good little logi-*****. |
