I've made a caldari alt I want to try some pirating with. This question is probably being asked ten times a day, but since I couldn't find anything - I'll make this thread.
My questions are; 1. What skills should I train first? (keep in mind i want to try this asap) 2. What ship/fitting should/can be used with this? 3. Anything else?

You could get started in can-flipping with a frigate, equipped with a webifier, warp scrambler, and a knowledge of how to get the target to flag themselves to you for shooting.
A merlin uses both hybrid weapons and missiles, is a decent shield tank. The Kestrel is a good missile boat. To protect yourself against silly miners, you'll want to use blasters to shoot their drones. You can then take out their mining boat at your leisure.
Apart from that, try to get in contact with folks from Tear Extraction and Reclamation Service, they're a hisec piracy corp.
Enjoy!

I started pirating 2-3 days into the game on this character. (My first ever EVEO post.. aah nostalgia)
Back then I flew the Merlin with rails and light missiles. Basically just go to lowsec systems close to highsec and look for other newbs out on adventures. Just remember to keep your eyes open for bigger sharks in the water )
The one thing you absolutely must train for is Warp Scramblers. If you can't hold your target in place, you won't be killing anything. ---

I'm a pirate?? As a matter of fact I'm a hard working, professional, used ship and scrap merchant. As to the OP's question, train racial frig, racial weapons, and learn to use web/ scram. Then browse the ship+module forum for a cheap fit for your preferred ship. Buy 10 of them, go to low sec, kill stuff. You will lose a lot of ships but the experience you gain will be priceless. Taking the time to peruse the Crime and Punishment forum would also be of value. Spend enough time in low sec and you will probably get killed on a regular basis by older pirates, some of whom will be happy to have a chat and/ or give you advice, providing you can keep your cool and not smack/ act like a prat in local. You may even get an invite or two to join a corp.

1) Train Propulsion Jamming. 2) Fit scram, guns, afterburner on Rifter/Punisher/Incursus/Merlin(?) or Kestrel. 3) Find target. 4)? 5) Profit.
Try the Ships and Modules section for fits (better would be to check something like Battleclinic or other 3rd party sites), and read this. Enjoy.

Just don't tell people that the used modules and scrap metal you're trading originally came from mission-runners ships ;)
I recommended you guys since you know about the important things a pirate needs to know - sizing up your prey, rattling folks who should know better, and taking advantage of opportunities. Oh, that and growing a spine :)

Actually we're mostly ninjasalvagers, not that we haven't been known to flip cans every once in awhile.
Anyway, OP: If you want to actually get into lowsec PVP rather than canbaiting and stuff like that, get into a corp. Doubly important as you're Caldari (Who aren't great at solo PVP but are good in groups), solo players don't usually do very well.
Many players do solo PVP, but they tend to die a lot and they usually have a pretty good skills/fittings
1. General PVP skills, really. Stay small, though. Early on, while you learn, you will die quite a bit, and your income stream probably isn't amazing. Stay in frigates, and maybe t1 cruisers
2. Depends wildly on whether you're going for guns or missiles, and what exactly you want to do
3. Yes. Get into a corp.

Ka Jolo and the Tuskers are some good folks that know what they're doing. I recommend checking them out.
The C&P Forum has a great guide in the stickies for new pirates and what initial skills to look to training.
Biggest thing though is your attitude. Don't be afraid to lose ships. Don't be a douche to those you fight. And most important is have fun.
