You guys are probably getting tired of my threads asking for Apoc advice. What I need this time is advice about using megapulses on an Apoc. I hunt Blood Raiders in 0.0 space, and face Blood Dark Priests (750Ks) Shadow Sages(500K) and Harbingers(1mil). I am tanked against their damage right now, and here is my current setup. 5X Tachyons with multifrequency crystals 1X cruise missile launcher
4X cap recharger Is
2X thermal hardeners 1X EM hardener 2X large armor repairers 2X cap power relays
And of course 6 ogres.
With this setup, I can solo any one of those battleship spawns mentioned above, tank two of them indefinitely and maybe even destroy two (not tried yet). My cap recharge rate is about 230 or 250 seconds. The only problem I have is doing damage fast enough and hard enough to the battleships sometimes as they're tanked and repair armor regularly, and relying on the cruise missiles for that extra kick is costly, especially when I was wanting to make the ship completely self-sufficient in the first place. What I'd like to do is switch to Megapulses since I've heard so much about how much more damage over time they do, so this morning that's what I tried. I couldn't hit a thing with them on multifrequency crystals because the battleships were well out of my range, and without the crystals I wasn't doing much damage at all compared to the tachs (I had six megapulses). What I overlooked was the possibility of using an AB or even a MWD. The problem now, obviously is having a MWD and keeping my armor tank going, and if that works out well, even maybe replace the cruise launcher for another megapulse. Can someone make some recommendations to my setup reguarding these possibilities? Electronics and Engineering are at level 5, by the way.

Hi
Would think about fitting a heat sink II in low slot, maybe loose 1 armor repairer, and just fit a named one.
Also think about fiting 2 medium lasers with radio to give you a bit more fire power. i can hit for 60 100 damage per shot with medium lasers at 30 km.
also would give mwd a try and hit em at longer range with radio ..

Since youve got a very good tank setup there, I would recommend that you either switch to 8 Mega Beams, or 8 Mega Pulse Lasers. The Megapulse Lasers will let you kill stuff quicker and your range will vary from 15km-50km(optimal) while with Megabeams you almost have the same range as a tachyon but not as much damage over time, but the fact that you have 8 instead of 5 helps a lot. ................. |

The named armor repairer is definitely a plus, I'll see if I can't find a named one. I also heard that it's best to keep all your guns in generally the same range, especially when trying to hit a battleship (which is mostly what the setup is about, the cruisers, I should have mentioned, aren't a big concern).

Edited by: Gaiam on 10/08/2004 01:57:31 use praetors on bloods, they are weakest vs em damage. and try mega pulse/beam.

use 4 tech 2 rechargers and 8 mega pulse, then switch a cap relay for a tech 2 heat sink.

Mega-pulse all the way. Not as long range as tachs, but same DOT with much lighter cap use and fitting. They also track really well

8x megapulse, rest the same, should work if i remember right. I used to run 2x heatsinks instead of a thermal and em hardner, but it just dosent seem to cut it against npc dmg anymore. ----------------------------------------

Highs: 6 Mega Pulse 2 Siege
Meds: 4 Tech 2 Cap Recharge, or named ones that are better
Lows: Named Large armor, Medium T2 armor, 3X hardeners of choice, 2X heat Sink 2s
I use this for NPCs and have np. Only reason I use the missles is I have Cruise missles at level 5. I own those three BS Amarr spawns np never having to warp out.
