This is driving me nuts.
I've got a 2006 Dell D630 with centrino Duo and Intel 965 chipset. The OS is XP SP3 with DX 9 and I'd rather cut off my own arm and eat it than install Vista windows millenium #2.
It runs 2 clients in basic graphics no problem at an average of 15 fps on both clients or 25-30 fps if I run a single client on it's own. Eve says that I have compliant hardware, but when I enable premium graphics I'm getting a lot of corruption on the screen. On the opening screen, the ships have no textures on them, and depending on what color deapth, stencil and interval I pick they have jagged outlines ranging from purple to blue and many other colours in between. Disabling shadow or HDR make no difference. I can get into the game and am getting around 25 fps on a single client so is playable, and the back grounds look sweet, but all the ships, star bases, jetcan textures aren't loading up. I get big black blobs with funky aura's.
Is this known for the intel chipset and is there a workaround so I can play on premium. I've got the horsepower to do it. This worries me if premium is going to be the only option as I play 80% of my eve time is on my laptop.

According to that your chipset supports Shader 2.0 standard. Current requirement for Eve premium is Shader 3.0. You should be able to run Premium Lite with no trouble when that is officially released but I'm surprised it's letting you into Premium at all.

The reason it's partly working is due to the fact that the Intel drivers will attempt to emulate (on the CPU) any shader functions not supported by the graphics card.
As stated by the post above - your chipset is SM 2.0 so won't support Premium, it will support Premium Lite in a couple of weeks though (although you'll likely only be able to run one client). ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |
