Hi guys, after the last couple of days I got bored and decided to set up a Teamspeak server for all of EVE to use. It is currently a dedicated windows server and runs me about 100USD a month. With 2 CPUs and 4GB of ram, it is fast and nice :D
To get a TS server for your alliance or corporation, convo Grim in-game and I will be happy to set one up for you.
- Grim
P.S. For donations, contact me in-game, and they are much appreciated!

everyone tries a public VoIP server every once in awhile here (including me xD). It never catches on. I suggest you use your resources for something else. ---------------------------

eveteamspeak.com doesn't load for me but I am willing to give any corp/alliance unlimited slots and all the codecs. All I ask is for them to keep playing eve. :D -- Death By Titan :( |

Edited by: Ralle030583 on 25/02/2009 13:53:49 Teamspeak itself has 1000 slot per server max in its licence and service is checking it... (the free one but pherhaps he has a paid one???) so i think max 1K per eth in total splitted over all "servers"

Too buggy, too crappy, too little controls.
Teamspeak isn't as good as Vent when it comes to clearing up sound levels but yah it does have alot better sound (to me). EVE voice? Last couple of times I tuned in on Dev chats I couldn't hear crap of what they said. When alliance uses EVE voice at times it takes me roughly 20-40mins to "buffer" the channel before I even hear anything, and in some cases it doesn't load at all. Then as I said, you can't even alter peoples voice levels, etc.
EVE voice is just an emergency/temporary solution when there's no real options available.

Thanks guys for the support but only one person has approached me and was happy to set up a TS for them. The reason I am able to do this is Elastic Cloud Computing and the ability to spawn and terminate instances of servers. So if the demand is up and the server can't handle it, another server get automatically spawned off. So really, all your paying for is for what you use. If a server is not being used, it is terminated. So basically inside of a cloud, you have hundreds of servers. If you want I can probably set up a totally private server but you would have to pay me with cash up front and it costs around 80-100USD for 1 small server that can handle around 300-400 people depending on bandwidth.

I don't see how you need CONTROLS for voice chat. I mean, press a button and chat away....I don't get it. I also have yet to encounter bugs with it. Heck, even the Alliance Tournament used EVE voice for its broadcast, so it can't be THAT bad. ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

Not trying to change the subject, but Th in game voice chans are incredibly clear and responsive for me.
Back on topic, that's a great offer, but you should at least rent it cheaply so you recoup some funds. That would be a boon for a small corp trying to get it's legs though. It's one of those things, along with a web page and forums, that places a drain on a CEO that want's to recruit and keep his corp mates. These days a page, forums and access to a reliable voice comms is expected by most.

Yes, but it still increases lag in most fleet battles but that not what Im getting to. Im getting to the fact that these teamspeak servers are awesome and I am working on getting a Vent server started but since i dont have a license and im not paying 300bucks a month for one, you will be limited to 16 slots :(

That guy who can never figure out that the microphone is supposed to go in front of his face? With the right controls, you can boost his signal (and only his). That girl who is swallowing the microphone and has the high pitched squeal? You can turn her volume down (and even do some graphic equalising). That guy who turned on "voice activated" but then forgot to set the threshold above his disturbing loud mouth-breathing level? You can mute him altogether.
These are the controls that make dedicated voice chat more useful than any in-game voice chat product on the market.

This is very good of you!
May I suggest putting a post in the new players forum also, and maybe in the corporation and alliance.
I would imagine most existing corps already have something sorted, but for new players thinking about making a corp this would be ideal! Esp with the new box coming out soon.

I say, this is very generous of you, and yes, I agree, making a different post in the New Player area would probably net you quite a few people.
