This is very "fun" to be disconnected because of bad provider (and no, i can't change it atm), and then warp upon the mission site and see how npc spank your T2 drones..
When i appeared there (mission wasn't in deadspace), npc continue to shoot drones (wich was 30km away from me).. i start shooting them.. but they continue to shoot drones , i've warped to safespot and try to warp upon them.. but oops "you warp drive failed to lock upon MY drones"
And now i'm 5 jumps away from the nearest drones available.. so i must travel 10 jumps to restore from this stupid and not needed loss. Great.

Thank you very much for this frustrating and fun breaking game mechanic

The new probing system allows for probes to be 'reconnected' after suffering a d/c. I would love to see this functionality added to drones so that we can reconnect to drones that have been forcefully abandoned after d/cing.

I have had similar situations recently also. If we were able to reconect to the drones I may even consider buying 'Augmented' drones. As it is now you would have to be a fool or rediculously rich.

should i tell you something fun? had sleeper fight session tonight, i brought in my orca with 1000 spare drones in on the battlefield just to replenish on the go drones as they were shot by the sleepers. I used up like 70 of em.... in the course of 2 hours go figure dc arent your biggest problems :)

I agree. CCP cannot control the internet or computer crashes, but it can control how the game behaves. Its very poor design to punish a player for events completely beyond their control.

First, I totaly agree about needing a way to reconnect to drones after disconnect.

Haven't been able to test due to market issues, but this is what I was afraid of-- "improved" NPC AI = drone nerf.

Aye especialy droneboats are recieving the wrond side of the stick. No way I'm going to bring one into wspace, except perhaps those that can field a full set of sentries.
But still drone popping after DC is a bit annoying especialy if you use those nice T2 heavies or sentries. Then a few DC can get costly, the reconnect drones is a nice feature, but still won't save your drones. What should happen is that if you disconnect your drones lose their host so they stop (already doing that). But instead of stopping they should go in some type of reinforced mode, this means no lock available. But they use inner energy to uphold this and can only do this for a maximum of 10 minutes. This should be enough to time to reconnect and scoop them back in.
PS: Can I have your stuff! ----------------------------------

A very appreciated addition to a "Reconnect with Drone" feature, would be forcing the NPCs to quit attacking inert Drones when you d/c. As irritating as it is to get back and have to scoop them... it's especially irritating to get back and find nothing at all because the Rats got bored while you were gone and did some target practice.
Some folks have asked for drones to get warped back when you ship auto-warps, but that's kinda lame. However, I don't think it's too far a stretch to have the NPCs lay off until you get back and get your Drones back online. Otherwise it's just CCP sitting back going "Ha ha, your ISP sucks! I'm gonna blow up your stuff just cus I can!" --- Don't take my ranting personally. I may just be arguing the topic, unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. I am suprised CCP didnt put this kind of game mechanic in when drones first came into play. I would like to see some sort of "oh you got dc'ed - here have ur drones back in your view".
sure it dont take much to fly to them and scoop them - but its not the point. Signature --------------------- EVE Online VoIP Services: http://evevoip.alienxservers.co.uk |
