The PS3 use a completely different architecture so you can run any Windows app on it except if you using full emulation stuff. So you wont be able to run EVE with a decent FPS.

Linux is an open-source software, so it can be compiled for many architecture! But if I'm remember correctly, the PS3 Linux don't have access to the accelerated graphics subsystem. So you can only use software rendering.
Plus EVE is a closed source software compiled for X86, Wine is not an emulator, X86 code is executed normally by the x86/x86_64 CPU and only Windows call and direct3D stuff are converted to Linux equivalence. So Wine running on the CELL cannot execute win32 software because x86 are not binary compatible with the CELL.
The only way to got it by emulator, like bosh. If he can emulate Shader3 with software rendering, it will "work" at... 2-3 FPS or less :)

Installing Linux on the PS3 is actually supported by Sony (there's an option in the Settings menu to "install other Operating System") - Only catch is that it has to be a "special" version of linux compiled for the Cell (though once it's on there you should be able to compile any linux program you like).
Problem is, as previously pointed out: Wine Is Not an Emulator, it's a "wrapper" program that allows non-elf/a.out binaries to be executed & tricks them into believeing there's a Windows OS there.
Wine will not run Windows binaries on non-x86/x64 architecture. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

I think that's what they said to the guy who wanted to run Linux on a DS :)
But agree, no. But very cool idea none the less.

installing linux on ps3 is possible. AFAIK linux only supports 2 of the 8 cell processors atm. It's cool to use the ps3 for a renderfarm but it's a waste of effort to try it for gaming.
