Hello. I am Miss Uylear, and you may be a person new to online games. Especially this one, EVE.
Let me start off with that your money is well invested. You are paying for pleasure, for entertainment, and good times. This will be had. Most definetly. Infact, your pleasure will become at times so satisfying that you might even have a smile the whole day just because of what you managed to do in an internet spaceships game. And if you don't feel this at least once, then you are doing it wrong.
EVE will also tax you. It will make you paranoid of those 'online' people you meet. You will suffer loss, and grieve for it. You will essentialy 'feel'. There are people out to get you. The place is filled with con artists. No-one is truly safe from being manipulated, and at any time your whole collection of assets can crumble away to nothing and all you have trained for can vanish.
But so what. You are a god. You can learn, adapt, and take evolution into your own hands to hunt the hunters. The adverts are true. You can become a legend. I implore you at leat try, and not give up at the first hurdle.
Prepare to lose. Expect to win. Keep at it and do not give up.

The plan is... Starting next Monday 3/2 Not to post anything mean, nothign about EVE being harsha nd adapt or dies.
We want to make it look like rainbows and butterflies nad that everyone is your friend. That way all teh M10'ers will think so.
Continue that until about the 24th, then break them into the REAL EVE!!!

Yep, so we need to keep this thread on page 1 for 2 weeks!
And how we do that you ask....
This thread is now about why the Falcon needs to be nerfed, along with all Caldari ships.
Sig is now EVE related. Happy mods?

Edited by: Miss Uylear on 25/02/2009 21:19:33 Edited by: Miss Uylear on 25/02/2009 21:18:14 I won't pull punches. The worst can happen.
Assume this. you are in a war. your fleet is jumped and thus you die. You also get podded. Your clone is up to date, and its ok, as you have no implants to lose. The station has no medic bay. You exit and oh no, a ship has smart bombed to his cost in sec status. You die, and lose a percentage on your highest trained skill. Just hope it wasn't Cruiser 5. Or Battlecruiser 5. Or Battleships 5. That might hurt. Then you realise that you have indeed forgotten to update where your clone is. Same place you just were. Assume you are in low sec, and the smart bombing bastards are relentless. Your only option is to afk it, or call it a night/day. So now you realise that this realtime universe is going to eat into your own time substantially. That sucks a little for some.
And that's one possibilty. Of course, put the shoe on the other foot, where you are that pilot who podded that poor guy, or the one who is smartbombing that station. Or mebbe you are the one who is selling cruisers and frigates, battleships and other ships at the podded persons station. Lucky he died, coz he just paid over the odds to survive getting out of his hole. nice one, Mr Market man!
So many things can happen if you make a mistake. Rest assured that if you do, someone else profits down the line. And then, people will make mistakes around you. Profit for you then!
Assume this. Your flying around aimlessly. A battle has broken out. You're in a small ship, a shuttle. It is fast and nimble, and takes no skill to fly. You're a few days old and know how to warp. That wreck you just flew up to has an Estamels module in it. Better take it before... Oh well done, you did. Quick! Warp! Well done. You got out. And now you're insta-rich. What do you do? Barter with the person who owned it originally, or trade it to the ship killer? Choices choices. All can only end in profit. Just be careful you're not convinced that that module is worth less than you think....

Let me just take this opportunity to say that although new players are always welcomed, they will go through the same rough treatment the rest of the players of this game when the election is over and the whole forums become See and Pee'd
MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE
Yes, my name is Pompous. Yes, this has been designed for maximum deliberate effect. Sweet disclaimer eh |

Hey you can't... nvm.
Yes, make the right choice. The choice you should make upon coming to EVE is this.
Do I want a pompous person being my voice? Or would you have a sultry manner about the whole thing? Well?

Be honest , EvE is a harsh and unforgiving MMO that will bite a new players head off if they have any sensitivity issues, game is harsh.
Learning curve ? Freaking game has a overhanging ledge, which you need to spend 5 weeks learning skills... just to start climbing that learning... curve.
Fellow players all sit about waiting for you to make a error and make you pay dearly for each faux pas you dare to commit.
AND I LOVE IT... Eve is a challenge, can you take it on ?
Some things are painfully obvious, others must be made obvious...painfully. |

In short:
EVE is a GAME. Not a life simulator. If you don't enjoy it but you keep playing it then you have an addiction. I enjoy it but if it gets frustrating then I quit and go to something else with my time.
