A Titan is a straticgic power block in the game as it stands with it simple massive sybolic meaning. How ever "I" belive it can be abused some times. I.E Double+ Doomsday. The doomsdays as I understand it are the reson for building a titan how ever titan have other very useful roles ,
They can carry 2+ times the amount of capital guns when compared to a dread. They can also creat Jump portals for fleets. So my question is : Is a dooms day truly needed? will people stop using Titans if it is removed?
And so I would like to propose a change to the titan and the base line is quite simple.
Remove Doomsdays from titans.
Add more shield/armor/structure to titans
Change the cost of titans , make them slightly more affordable.
Basicly what you have now it a Titan that cant doomsday but has the power of 2+ dreads and is tough as nails. Because at the moment there droped in they doomsday and they get out or die.
What do you think would removing the doomsday of a titan make it less appealing? Im open to all comments :)

You could make the DD into a last resort by making it more stratigic, by inflicting massive dammage to everyone, even its self; i.e. set cap to zero, set shields and armor to a low percent, disable moving/warping/jumping for 60 seconds, offline all modules. But you boost the damage output of the DD, so it is a one shot insta-kill everything, even other titans. When you use it, you own the field, but you pod every other pilot within the range of the DD, hostile and friendly alike.

Edited by: Sigras on 26/02/2009 14:44:46 The interesting thing i see about the Titan is the lack of consistency in the design.
allow me to elaborate; Titans have 9 bonuses: 1) Immune to all forms of Electronic Warfare 2) Can fit 1 additional warfare link module per lvl 3) 99% reduction in CPU need for warfare link modules 4) 99% reduction in CPU need for clone vat bay 5) reduction in CPU need for *insert doomsday here* 6) reduction in CPU need for Jump Portal Generators 7) 7.5% bonus to *various racial themed gang bonus* 8) Bonus to racial weapons 9) Bonus to racial weapons
(ok, i know gallente get one 10% damage bonus, but i count it as two 5% bonuses :P)
All that you knew; my point is that 1,2,3,4,6 and 7 all seem geared toward a Capital Command Ship while 5,8 and 9 are more geared toward a Capital Combat Ship.
My suggestion, split the ship into two, tier one and tier two; it would seem to fit the intended design more

Titan Nerf History (correct me if i'm wrong here)
Titans used to hit everything is system, now it's on grid. Titans used to have NO GUNS. They got them when the "on grid" nerf was added as a compensation.
If you removed the DDD you take away for the reason for the Titan. While a Titan may have 2x the guns of a Dread, it does no where near the DPS. Capital Weapons really only hit caps and super webbed BS, and on top of that a Titan does a BS worth of DMG, while costing some obscene percent more.
Titans are fine the way they are.

Reread mate , a titan with 7 Cap guns and a sige mod would do TON of dps , and here is my point Titans arnt made for killing BS no capital is , Titans new roll would be a Capital Command ship , its giving gang links to all the cap fleet increasing the entire cap fleets dmg and doing 2+ Deads worth of dmg it self , not to mention it would be almost 2 times harder to kill. EvE online is about team play , not LOLOLOLOL Cyno in, I go boom in your face , cyno out

I dont think it hit anything on grid but you could use a cyno to produce the dooms day effect which people did not like :P

Here's the kicker WITH A SIEGE MOD. I don't need to reread anything. My statement was on the current state of titans. Your proposed "Change" makes them tier 2 dreadnoughts. There is no "CYNO in, BOOM, cyno out" as you call it. A Titan that DDDs can't jump for a period of time, making it venerable to a Cov Ops and a HIC. There are ways to get a Titan. Once it uses it's DDD it is nothing more than primary for a bunch of cap ships that are left, provided you have any. If you warped a frig squad into a DISCO BS, the same thing would happen, and I doubt you'd be here launching a complaint. You ran into the big bad wolf and got eaten. Next time, avoid the wolf, or become bigger and badder, don't pray to the GMs asking that the big bad wolf get knocked down a peg.

A sieged titan would tank a lot, but would only do the damage of two, maybe three, dreads. Not worth the cost and besides, we already have dreads; why do we need bigger dreads? I've thought of the same fix but it just doesn't quite address all the issues.
And to the nerf history, the DDD didn't hit everything in system. It used to be able to be used remotely, via a cyno and hit the grid which was stupidly unbalanced.
