I am just getting started in this and have a few questions. I am flying a cheeta using Observer Deep space probes. I have been probing in a mix of 0.3 to 0.9 systems.
1) running 10 systems a day for three days I have yet to find a Cosmic Signature. Is this normal? How often can I expect to find something?
2) How often does a system reset? If I scan for a cosmic signature today at noon and there is nothing to be found how long should I wait to rescan the system.
3) With the Observer Deep space probe if I scan and find nothing does that mena nothing is there or that I may have just missed it? I.e. if I find nothing the first time is there any point to rescanning right then?
4) Since the probe has a 1000 AU range does it make any difference where in the system I do the scan?

That would be your first mistake. Don't use the Observer probes - use the Multispectral ones to see what signatures might be in the system, then use the signature-specific probes to find that actual site. Here's a video tutorial on exploration: Linkage

I beleive exploration will change in the new expansion. So have fun doing it now, but you will need to relearn it here in about 2 weeks.

Uh - I should have said Observator Deep space probe - it is a Multi Spectral probe, at least that is what all the documentation says..
I have not even gotten to the point of using the specific spectra probes for finding a specific site.
I had one other question.
5) My skills let me scan for up to 5 types of signals. If I scan for all 5 at once does this affect my chances of a hit in the Cosmic Signature group?

I know what you meant, and my response is the same - use the Multispectral probes, NOT the Observator probes. The video tutorial explains it in detail.
