Is this some special version of wine? What's different about it?

Is this wine patch required to run Apocrypha?
Will theses patches go to the main portage tree any time soon? Are there any more information about the modifications of the wine source? |

Some minor additions:
* Install Layman # echo "app-portage/layman subversion" >> /etc/portage/package.use # emerge -av layman
* Modify make.conf # echo source /usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf >> /etc/make.conf
* Update Layman and list layman # layman -L
* Install gentoo-quebec overlay # layman -a gentoo-quebec
* Unmask wine ~ * "**" will install the git version (this step is optional if you have 1.1.16 unmasked already) # echo "app-emulation/wine **" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
* install wine # emerge -av wine |

Edited by: Fildek on 11/03/2009 20:04:42 Edited by: Fildek on 11/03/2009 20:01:50 I followed the steps above exactly, it certainly did download and compile a version of wine that wasn't from my regular portage tree, yet my problem with not seeings any ships/objects in space and my hanger being all black still exists.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Running 7600GT with latest stable drivers.
EDIT: Actually I think all it did was download the regular version using git, not the overlay one.

I have a Celeron 2600Mhz and GeForce 6200 -- i tried to avoid overlays and stuff, but nothing else worked... Finally I followed the instructions in this thread and at last, EVE loads with 3d graphics, and is much better than the cedega client i was using before. *MUCH* better, i mean there is a huge difference in graphics quality and fps.
Thanks to everyone in this thread.
That being said, two strange problems:
1) The game runs once but then refuses to run a second time -- unless i remove the settings and cache directories. There is another thread mentioning this problem.
2) When I try to warp to a target, the game seems to crush. It does not crash if i warp while being in the system or star maps. Any ideas on that one?
Thanks, I had lost all hope but now i am a happy camper again!!
