First off, Goonswarm was a fantastic alliance and I will miss being part of it.
I have to say throughout all of this hardly anyone seems to give Darius the credit he deserves. Goonfleet became what it became soley because of him. Sure there were thousands of people in the alliance who helped mine for the minerals and helped defend, but it was Darius who organized all of it. Darius planned for all of it.
Two and a half years ago, when Goonfleet was falling apart, Darius was already planning and discussing in the Goonfleet forum what he wanted to do with Feythabolis. I think the alliance met all of his expectations. We set many firsts in our time with the outposts and the Titan. I don't want to name any other alliances, but the reality is that it is because of Darius and only Darius that Goonfleet didn't wind up like most other alliances that are reasonably succesful but nothing special. Assuming of course an alliance could have been founded at all in Feythabolis in the aftermath of Goonswarm without Darius .
Unfortunately I have been out of game longer than I have been in game in these last two years. I missed a lot of the wars in Goonswarm's history. I do recall, however, we have always had enemies and IMHO I don't think weve ever give anyone real reason to start shooting us.
When Goonswarm was first born, Veritas Immoralis and friends immedietatly declared how we were traitors and what not and thus by attacking us we had our first enemies. Since that time we have endured all sorts of enemies. Most of these wars have been started because we have been perceieved as an easy picking (Ex. What did we ever do to D2/BoB?).
My point is if you ever had a problem with Goonswarm and you came to us about it, and you were serious about solving it, we would resolve it diplomatically. Other alliances may jump at the chance to start a war, but us being the pacifist carebears that we were, would never start a war. I believe in Goonswarm's history we were the ones to start the shooting first only once and that was because (It was BRS) kept repeatedly BSing us. So contrary to popular belief, no, Goonswarm was not a giant bully that prayed on the weak every chance it got.
To BoB and specfically Sir Molle: I don't know what your true reasons were for attacking us. If what you said publically is true, and you were just looking for the best fight you could get, than I suggest you sack whoever gave you that intel because Goonswarm never was or had been a PvP powerhouse. I hope gaining Feythabolis was worth it to you as in the process you lost one of the few allies you have that is not in your immediate sphere of influence. I don't know what the official standings toward BoB were in the 2 year history of Goonswarm, but I do know that unofficially, up until the start of the war, Goonswarm had always counted BoB as a friend.
As far as Goonfleet is concerned this is not the last Eve has seen of us. Sure, what happened to Goonswarm is a setback, but it is by no means a killing blow. This day was anticipated even before we formally broke off from RSF. In the same way Goonfleet rose up from the remains of Goonswarm to create a better and stronger alliance, we will once again do the same again. It is only a matter of time before Goonswarm 2.0 is awing you all with our sheer indutrial might and equally stupefying everyone with our faulty PvP skills.
