Edited by: Tlaloc Camaxtli on 01/03/2009 20:25:40 Hi, i have recently returned to eve after 1+year long break and my computer is lacking in the performance department.. i would really appreciate any advice on what king of spec computer i would need to enjoy lagg free battles, what spec graphics card, processor.. memory.. etc etc
i want a computer than will be smooth even in 100 v 100 fleet battles but i dont want a super computer that costs ú6000, so if you are a pilot that has been in heavy combat and enjoyed frame rate of 20FPS+ id love to hear your setup and how much is would roughly cost.
id also like to play in premium quality.

I run Eve on a 9800gx2 with a quad intel and 4gb of ram and I still can;t escape lag.. most of the times..

yea i know there will be server lag... but i was watching some fleet battles on youtube and there was no lag in "some" of the videos i seen... obviously CCP are allways trying to improve server lag but i want a computer which will make the client side run lag free..
ive been trying to have conversations in minmatar corp chat about eve and quad cores... some people say quad core is the best for running eve and others say quad core is pointless for running one eve and i might as well get a core two duo... im just not sure. :s
i only ever run ONE eve client and i never multi task as i use my seperate laptop for websites and such... my desktop only ever runs one ever client... so what should i get which would benefit me best?

As far as I am aware EVE does not take advantage of multiple cores. At this time a quad core CPU would only help if you were running multiple accounts.
To be honest you don't need to spend a great deal to get a reasonable computer. A decent dual core CPU (Intel or AMD should both be fine, depending on your price point), 4GB of RAM (because there isn't much point in getting less) and something like an HD4870 for the graphics card (which isn't too expensive these days, but you could go for something like a 4850 if your budget is that tight).
Something like that should do you pretty well without being too expensive I would say.
