[1] I have a friend who wants to play EVE, but they are unsure on how the game performs on a 56K-dialup connection. If you are playing with a dialup connection, please let me know whats its like and any problems or concerns with it. Thanks, |

[3] hi mate - im using a 56k modem and have had no problems . no lag no disconnects nothing untoward apart from the odd jerky frame occasionally. however to qualify that i have only been playing a few days and havent got embroiled in any serious shenaiggans ie no epic space battles and multiple explosions etc, and also being a shift worker ive only so far been playing in the early hours gmt where user numbers have been relitively small 2-4ooo online . . i was concerned about 56k issues and will wait and see how my system handles things when there is more going on before i think about going broadband. hope this helps. |

[5] Thanks for your reply. I was told by someone else, that if you have a dialup connection, avoid having chat channels open with lots of people in them (i.e. the Trade channel, with 500+ sometimes). Apparently it will bog things down. |

[7] I would have thought dial up to be a waste of time and effort. I attempted a couple of mmo's on dial up and the problems were horrendous. MMO's are designed for broadband by and large. There are of course very good broadband deals nowadays, my advice would be for your friend to invest in it if they possibly can. Subscribing to an mmo on dial up would be like throwing hard earnt cash in the fire |

[8] the only thing that takes a while is the login "acquiring bulkdata". can be quite large (abotu 2mb last time i checked for me) other than that, not much traffic going on, doubt you need to keep chat closed market and such can cause some delay because of the burst of data --- BTW: A GOOD Cache-Cleaner |
