Just curious as to whether anyone knows what the purpose of the passengers are within the world. Do they have a market value? What can they be used for (other than collecting)?
I also heard (ingame-grapevine) that CCP might be putting them to work in stations for the summer release... No idea how accurate THAT is though.

Some of the roleplayer groups use them for stuff, like Electus Matari gathering (not buying) slaves for the purposes of freeing them. Otherwise.. not too much..
Incidentally, I'll be happy to take all 'Militants' off your hands for only a nominal fee. --------------

Comedy cargo hold contents for PVP - i.e. player driven value, the best kind.
A few of my corpies frequently take an assortment of exotic dancers, passengers, tobacco, etc so if they get popped, it is on the KM.
Also handy for checking if someone in a station is active - I have had a pretty good success rate sending exotic dancers via trade windows to docked up WTs or neutrals in 0.0 NPC stations. Significant proportion of players in this game are fellas, and with most of them their reptilian brain clicks "accept" on the trade window when they see an exotic dancer before their higher logic functions kick in and say "but we will be giving that bloke intel on if we are active or not".

Some people also collect them. Especially the harder to get passengers that are only available as a mission item.

Nothing puts a smile on my face like jettisoning some passengers, homeless people, exotic dancers, women and children, livestock, and circus clowns into the cold black abyss of deep space.

I used to free slaves by buying some slaves (minmatars), jettison them into space and blowing up the can.

I always jettison VIPs, as much as they weigh I figure they have at least a good minute before death with all that insulation. |

People with difficulties getting social relations usually like collecting them.
Exotic dancers are... uh... for a certain portion of those

Only the Amarr have trouble with silly things like reading instruction manuals.

You can't, I jettisoned all of them out of the airlock. No more left.
Not a single one.
I made sure of it.

I keep the livestock for my ranch. But who needs a bunch of militants? They have an attitude and they smell. I also have to worry whether they'll break into my gun collection. Eff 'em, into the jetcan they go.

I fly with my Pax Amarria in the hold, still looking to find a decent supply of Kaimera's and Slaves to throw in with it.
But yes, some items are used as either good luck charms (my Pax), fun for kill mails, or roleplay items, and that does generate value. Often higher value than you'd expect. Suffer not the insufferable to live. |

How does one "free slaves"? Jetcan railroad? That hardly seems ... nice.

I with the Sansha, I will happily rehabilitate your militants. Actually I just collect them.. it's alright, except everybody seems to think they're worth 10mil a piece.. --------------

Not all in-game items need a game-mechanics use. Passengers are just a type of trade goods.

I guess, if they really will be used in WiS, each "Passenger" would hav his speciallity:
-> Slaves (can be freed, you got changes in standing, or just cheap workers for 0.0 POS¦s aso..) -> Freedom Fighters (for influencing stations for their.. whatever they wan¦t, demonstrations...) -> Marines (Guarding your bar or your ship against bourding from another player¦s marines..old style piracy ;) -> Janitor (in need for every shop/bar..) -> Graduate Scientist (will boost your Produktion or Invention jobs) -> Homeless (giving them a job they can work for you^^, or get more standing with them while helping them) -> Refugees (they need HELP!!! ) -> Tourists (each Tourist brings every day 1.000 ISK) -> Militants (make war with other guys in Station)
Their might be a huuuuge things to play with these people =D
cheers

When I first started a friend turned me on to NPC trading, it's a great way for n00bs to make isk. With a Bestower, some cargo expanders and a little capital I was soon making as much per hour as level 3 mission runners. My very first trade was a ship full of slaves.

Keep a Janitor to help clean the ship, a Marine to help police and enforce your policy, and an exotic dancer to dance around the "captain's staff" during tense long mining operations.

I like to keep them for human experiments. I'll be darned if I can't use rats anymore. I put them in with the livestock and enriched uranium. Can't wait till they start growing extra arms!

Someone in my chat had a prostitute in their cargo hold. I looked on the market but, alas, there were none to be bought.
I really want a prostitute to keep me company on my missions.

I wish I could breed my slaves. Maybe even sacrifice two regular slaves to create one elite slave.. I'd have gladiator fights.
