As the topic says the exe files r starting up, but all i see is windows, i dont egt to type in my login and password, have tried restart the computer several times and run the exe file as adminisrator. Was logged in 2hours ago changing skills, then i uninstalled soem stuff like total war, EA updater and a symantech application. Dont thik anything of this should cause my eve client to be unable to use. Anybody got an idea what to do?

Edited by: Chris Liath on 03/03/2009 19:53:48 ... Try reinstalling eve instead of every other irrelevant program.
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. |

There are several threads about this in the Issues, Workarounds & Localization forum and all ccp has said is to clear your cache which doesn't work. I had a petition in with all the info they asked for and 5 days later they just said clear your cache. Looks like ccp doesn't really care about the people having issue as long as they get paid. |

not sure if this is the same problem as yours but it sounds similar...
Sometimes i start EVE and i can hear the login screen music but the screen just stays black and i have to CTRL ALT DELETE out of it. I found a solution on google that worked
Just change your desktop resolution. Its worked for me every time its happened, which is about twice. I just changed it from 1280x1024 to 1280x768 although i don't think the specific resolutions matter. Its just whether you change it or not. Don't understand WHY it fixes it just know it does for me

i had this problem over a year ago. i fixed it by disableing one of my 'Unimodem half- duplex audio device' in the sound, video and game controllers section of the windows device manager.

probably not your issue, but on mac you have to kill -9 the wine process sometimes, and this will let the game launch.

i can recreate this problem with a poorly configured ramdisk setup. Basically, my junctions point off into space.
i fixed it like so (batch file i run before starting eve:
@echo off echo "Preparing Folders on RAM DRIVE" mkdir r:\cache mkdir r:\bulkdata mkdir r:\capture mkdir r:\logs echo "Junction from EVE over to RAM DRIVE" junction C:\games\ccp\spurty\cache r:\cache junction C:\games\ccp\spurty\bulkdata r:\bulkdata junction C:\Users\alewis\Documents\EVE\capture r:\capture junction C:\Users\alewis\Documents\EVE\logs r:\logs echo "Done"
with any of these locations badly configured, gsame does exactly as you say.
can recommend you check file permissions out.
cacls on them or right click in the windoze explorerer

What I did was pressing alt-enter a couple of times during the splash screen. Helps most of the time. Changing resolution also helps.
However, slow internet connections might be the cause of this problem as well (solved mine with alt-enter but server status will show as unknown afterwards).

I had the exact same problem - could not load login screen, but could here background music? I use windows 7 beta, what I had to do was completly uninstall Eve Online, then reinstall, everything then worked how it should do! The only thing I had changed before the issue began, was my nvidia display drivers for Windows 7. I reinstalled the vista64 drivers and everything weent back to normal?

They cant tell you what is wrong because it dosent happen to everyone, so cancellign seems a bit useless.
I have had this happen when my "my documents" folder is unreachable. I have mine on another computer entirely... check for free disk space, delete the cache folder on your comp.
I also had this problem when my eve folder under my documents was marked read-only. Go to where you can see your my documents folder, right click > properties > make sure "read-only" is unchecked. If it is checked, then uncheck it and let it fix that.

That's what I love about eve, it has a hidden IQ-filter :D ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |
