A thread for anything that you wish there was a button or setting for that doenst change game mechanincs. Anytihng that would be made easier or more precise by having a ready made control for it.
There are a number of purposes that could be made more effective by adding additional commands and settings to existing things. Since manual movement is imprecise at best there should be specific things for each purpose. Also the utility of drones is limited by the only command being attack and orbit. There are also a number of things that are automatic that should be optional. Some things I have found to improve
1. A command to match the speed of your target to make it an easier shot for relatively low tracking speed weapons
2. An indicator of relative speed to your target
3. A command to bump your target in a certain direction or towards a second target
4. Settings on emergency warp to delay it unless your ship has taken specified levels of shield/armor damage
5. Recall drones before emergency warp, specified at similar damage levels specified to delay warping
6. Settings to control the priority of targets that drones automatically attack based on class of ship
7. Automatically recall and redeploy drones when there is no longer the type of target that current drones are deployed for
8. A command to start drones attacking based on those priorities without aquiring a target for your ship
9. After an emergency warp automatically activate cloak or repair as specifie for the ship.
10. A command for drones to bump you towards your current destination or enemies towards or away from you
11. Automatically recall dones that take damage |

You can do most of that already with short cut keys and manuelly piloting. Get better and press esc key and edit your short keys. |

so, you basically want a bot that plays the game for you? -1
id rather have direct control over my ships manouvering, wich then allows stuff like "coltrolled bumping".

most of these like the ones related to emergency drone and ship in danger "auto" buttons i would have to disagree with because the risk of losing drones/ships is a part of eve that shouldnt be automated. matching speed would be a nice one click button though |

I would agree with most of the previous posters for the most part: I think a lot of these are just taking the game-playing out of it.
However:
I wouldn't mind a way to add drone groups as a drag-and-droppable module button, with 'launch and engage target' being what happens when you poke the F-whatever button it is assigned to. "Recall drones" might be available via right-clicking the drone-module button.
That said, assigning key-commands to drones seems to work okay for this.
I also wouldn't mind a hot-key for probe scanning. Rather than having to click the little 'scan now' button, I'd like to be able to just poke 'f11' or whatever and set my probes pinging. |

Ok so scrap the automatic stuff. The only thing from that worth keeping is recalling drones on disconnect.
The commands I sugested need a bit more description
Matching speed manually is nearly impossible unless your target is already slow. Otherwise the orbit turns too fast to make a command effective for more then a few seconds. By setting a command to continuously do this that problem is negated. Even with it it will only help to a certain degree since the one attempting it is likely larger and slower. It will still have some effect as it will reduce the relative speed by a small ammount makeing a better shot for all turrets.
Bumping manually is also limited. At present the only way to move directly to something is the approach command. This also stops pushing after the first bump and that is reduced since it slows down just before it hits. It also does not lead the target so you will end up following the target if it is moving at all, and that is rarely the direction you want to push your target. Manual movement is always slightly offset since you cant click directly on your target. That makes you slip off and cant push very far before having to turn around again.
At present the only command for drones makes them orbit while attacking. Some drones own orbit velocity causes problems with their tracking speed which substantially reduces their effectiveness. Making them match speed would be a powerful but risky move since they rely on their speed to avoind most damage. There should be an option to make them attack in a chosen way.
Having drones push you or a target would have a minimal effect so it is mainly an option for non combat in annoyingly large deadspace areas to the next gate.
At present drones have fixed target priorities. These are not optimal so the should be made adjustable. There should be a list of classes of ships and they can be put in order for each group of drones. With each they should also have the option of orbit and match speed, or perhaps bump to stop the target. |

matching speed....no. Lets keep the ability to counter attacks in this game. You mwd spank, I crazy ivan, you overshooot and now I fight on my terms kind of thing. Cool thing is....you cna crazy ivan me right back later when/if I overshoot on your crazy ivan. All made possible by no auto speed adjustments. Your target is not there to make it easy for you to kill them....accept and move on.
they are drones....don;t like the targets they pick, send to those targets you like. Shooty weapons have to be put on target....you do the same with drones and we all even.
Bumping...yes you have to actually work for the bump. Whats the problem? This is a game. Means 2 people have to have a chance to play. 100% hits from flabbers running 100mn prop mods would suck ass. Said pilot has to land that bump to have that happen with current system. There in lies the game. |

It would be nice to see some more ways you can "program" your drones for different actions. it does make it more realistic |

Allow mudules to be set to a target that is not aquired yet or out of range to be immediately activated once that is done. At present trying to activate a module without a target set it to the first thing that is aquired which isn't always optimal and i you already have a target it can't be done to something that isnt already aquired. Also make it possible to set a next target to immediately activate upon the destruction of the current one. Make these hotkeable and possibly set the automati one to shift-the same module command.
On a similar note set the commands for active drones to be availible to drones in bay. This will recall the current group launch the next one and start them attacking as a single command.
On salvager modules make the option to also pick up loot in the wreck automatically.

I really like some of the ideas posted in this topic. The ones that interest me the most is a clickable to match speed to target and also an option that loots the wreck I'm salvaging for me, would be very handy. |

Use the force Luke! I agree that you ship control in eve needs a serious overhaul, but not I direction of more automated, more in the direction of less! if we are talking of ship movement in space, I always liked the way you controlled you ships the Game series Homeworld! That you set waypoints that your ship should follow, changing them regularly to match you enemies movement! Giving a much greater degree of control of you ship!
And i totally agree that drone control needs a serious upgrade to, the current way isGǪ for lack of better wordGǪ just annoying!

I noticed there are x y and z coordinates to a bookmark. I'm looking for a way to manually alter them to pick a spot in deep space. This will allow soeone to make a staging area in an extremely difficult place to scan down. Also the current units for bookmark locations are not in a understandable measure. To manually enter them it would be much better put in au from the sun. This would allow someone to easily send their staging area coordinates over chat. Ideally someone would be able to disable emergency warp from such a point so they can allow a trusted person to use their carrier's maintinace bay or corp hanger while they ae offline. |

For those of us who fly multiple accounts simultaneously, there could be a way to make them on a single client. Instead of alt tabbing between several clients which puts a severe strain on all but the best computers. There would be a button on the side bar for each account to instantly switch between them. There could also be a degree of overlap. Make it so that you could see your modules and targets of your other account so that they could all be activated from one screen. Also the overview could be segmented so that clicking on certain columns would set the target or destination of each ship. The overview split would only be functional if someone was all in the same pocket otherwise they would have to jump between each ship control as normal. |

Pidgeon Saissore wrote: 2. An indicator of relative speed to your target
Hi. We have this already. Kinda. It's called radial velocity. It's a column you can add to your overview.
Negative value means the ship is approaching. Positive value means the ship is flying away.
If the target's radial velocity has a negative value equal to it's velocity, it means it's approaching you directly. ITS COMMING RIGHT AT YOU. If the radial velocity is zero or near zero while it's velocity is high, it means it's on a steady orbit around you. Oscillating radial means it's orbit is shaped like an egg of sorts; not stable orbit.
Examples: -1,542 radial velocity means the target is approaching you at a rate of 1,542 m/s. -1,542 radial but 3,650 velocity means the target is getting closer but is not approaching you directly; roughly, at a 45..50 degrees angle. |
