What if when the Apofomogofodo expansion launched and went live on tranquility... it erased all player profiles from the database? What would you do then (i knw it wont happen blah blah but its a fun thing to think of) me i would emo range and grab as much 0.0 space as i could in my kestrel till its fixed

Why continue to play a game, if you know that all of your effort and time may be wasted at a moments notice? Some feel that adding a separate 'shard' would be good for EvE. Don't know if this is what the op is getting at, but I feel like addressing it anyway. These players overlook something important (or maybe they don't overlook it, and it's their intent): Why would players join and play on the 'old' EvE server, if there was a new one where everyone had a more equal playing field. By creating a new game, essentially, you destroy market stabilization (it took about a year for our server to get stabilized, and I hear the China game is STILL being injected with NPC products because of failure of production cycles). More importantly, however, you destroy the old server. Cause without new players and constant growth, why keep it around?

Those that stay will begin a 'mad rush' to lay strategic claim to those parts of the map they already know to be the most resource rich and profitable while racing to get some +5s as quickly as possible. A few may take the oportunity to try and form a few 'super alliances' to claim dominance over the comunity in its vulnerable and infant state... eeerm, other shtuff too... Oh, CCP will also take a major economic hit, prboably have to liquidize one of their offices (im thinking shanghai) cut back aon allot of staff which would slow down development and knock back the release date ambulation, well, amongst other things... just off the top of my head... ya know... basically itd all go **** up. EDIT - Or everyone would just play in SiSi :P
