So I finally turned up a wormhole. Show info says
"This wormhole is beginning to decay, and probably won't last another day. This wormhole has not yet had its stability significantly disrupted by ships passing through it."
Do you not get a mass limit until it goes below some threshold?

No you dont and thats rather a good thing IMO it adds a bit more of a unknown element.. and the unknown is always more fun.

I assume that the mass limit is random per wormhole, but. as a theory:
Myself and a corp member tested this we put thru: 6x T3 ships 2x Orca's 2x Battleships
Then it died :D Signature --------------------- EVE Online VoIP Services: http://evevoip.alienxservers.co.uk |

Had one yesterday where I couldn't bring a Freigter through becouse of mass-limed. Was fresh and clean one.

Hum, i see. Well that answers my question, they are random mass. Signature --------------------- EVE Online VoIP Services: http://evevoip.alienxservers.co.uk |

As i recall it was:
6 x T3 ships (9 mil kg each) 2 x Orca (250 mil kg each) 3 x Battleship (98 mil kg each) 4 x BC (12.5 mil kg each) and roughly 8 x Covert ops frigates (1 mil kg each)
(9*6) + (250*2) + (98*3) + (12.5*4) + (8) = 906 million kg (mass)
But then we also found a couple other ships abandoned inside the system so the initial size could have been larger.
EDIT: Oh, they are all random mass btw. Read the dev responses.

i doubt very much that it is random - ask any computer scientist whether a system can be random, and they'll answer no. it will be determined by a number of factors - sec status of current system & area, the type of space it leads to ('hard' wspace, 'easy' wspace, kspace..), a scale factor (which could be considered the random element if any), and probably more. The designation of each wh has been said by dev's to be based on a relatively simple concept - just i dont think anyone has figured it out yet.
to answer the OPs question from my pov - there is no way to find out the exact mass limit, and i too, agree this is best. however, the wh will physically respond to ships passing through, and as the recent dev blog states, it will become significantly smaller in appearance as it reaches its limit. i think we've got no more indications than that and the info window.

As i see it, they are random but they also have an upper limit and a lower limit. They could be random in anywhere from 500 million kg to 1,100 million kg.
There is nothing wrong with the clusters random number generator. (Flip a hamster method)
