A man calls the plumber to fix his water tank problem. The plumber arrives, listens to the heater briefly, then pulls out his hammer, lines it up, and taps the heater. It begins working again.
He hands the the man a bill for $100. The man is outraged, "100 bucks? ALL YOU DID WAS HIT IT WITH A HAMMER!" "Well, yes" replied the plumber. "I only charged you a dollar for hitting it. The other 99 are for knowing where, and how hard it needed to be hit."
Components, in the hands of one who does not build, are not worth much. Builders are using their time-trained and isk-invested skills to create things from these otherwise worthless and lowly-valued parts. They're not forcing you to buy. If you feel the price is too high, and you STILL buy it, you screwed yourself.
