Hi,
I'm about a month away from piloting a Raven with decent skills. Right now I'm in an impenetrable tank of a Drake that can mostly tank l4s.
I'm curious if I should start looking at running plexes. Are these just bounties or do the rats drop anything of value to a pilot?
Yes, I want to essentially run dungeons in my ship.

From what I've read, plexes drop faction and/or officer loot sometimes...although you do need some skills to be able to scan them down... ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

Edited by: Alex Skyhunter on 07/03/2009 00:19:34 no plex drops officer loot, but they have a chance to drop deadspace loot according to their difficulty. Also, the highsec ones (I think the most dangerous are 2/10) don't allow battleships to enter so you may want to focus on assault ships for running them ;)

As above Assault Frigates are ideal for his sec plexes.
For my part I have discovered that an other T2 frigate is very good at doining this: a stealth bomber. It can breeze through a 3/10 but with a slightly obscure "plexing" set up:
Manticore, hi-sec plexing
Highs: 3Xcruise launcers 2xsalvagers (some plexes are a treasure trove for salvage)Or extra guns if you feel the need for more fire power
Mids: AB Target painter small shield booster (the pith/gisti small a/b/c types are best for this) small shield extender or rat specific amplifier
lows: Auxiliary power core (you need this to fit the AB and you need the AB to survive) BCS or Damage control or speed mod
Again AF are more safe as are sturdier ships but if your skills are high you can finish a hisec plex in less than half the time in an SB.
As far loot is concerned I have found that 2/10 and 3/10 there is a de facto loot drop in the last "room", boss or overseer structure but quality and quantity varies. 1/10s are more like a gamble, no faction loot is for sure.

Threadjacking my own thread:
Will worm holes and Sleepers change this situation a bit? We'll be able to PvP for tech 3 parts?

That's the idea. Scan down for a wormhole entry, enter, kill rats, loot/salvage tech 3 parts, exit from where you came or scan down new exit and sell or build T3 stuff.
Rats will be quite hard for the solo player though but not impossible. I am going to try this myself with a couple of throwaway jump clones I have(ie with low grade implants). Rats in there pod you....

I'm cool with rats podding. CCP may need to revisit jump clones though. 24 hour restriction may be too much for PvE.
I realize this may not be the vision most of the old time players have but I'm much happier going into a wormhole in a fleet, losing a dozen pods/ships in the process, then hopping back to my proper jump clone before logging off and leaving training on.
It's just more meaningful to me in terms of progression to get something back (tech 3 parts) as opposed to just warp into low-sec and pod someone for the 10k bounty he set on his head.
Anyway, good stuff hopefully coming March 10th.

I can not confirm or deny that Sleepers pod, but I'm leaning more towards them not podding from what I've heard. Don't expect to go solo Wormhole plexes in a 'decently skilled' Raven. Hell, I wouldn't even try it in a perfectly skilled Raven. Maybe if your really, really, really good you could do it in a Golem.

Gotta remember that the sleepers we have seen on sisi a few days ago, are the hardest sleepers. So part of the sleeper thing can be solo'ed. And i am not 100% sure they pod you, since i haven been in a sleeper plex in my pod for like 10min without getting podded.....

I doubt they pod. THE problem you might be facing though, since there will be no Concord nor gate guns in W-space are your fellow EVE pod podding pilots.

WH-space will be 0.0 so yes it will be possible, but still hard since local is in delayed mode.
