Edited by: Isilwen Nightfall on 07/03/2009 12:03:30 As the title says.
Whenever i force AA from my video card control panel (an Ati X1950), my Eve client just closes itself. Mind that this is WITHOUT HDR. Not immediately, and NEVER if i'm docked. But after i undock, it can happen anytime. I tried several times, and it crashes at random: as soon as i undock, when i warp, when i try to load 'roids, or anything else. I tried to update my drivers, of course, but with no avail.
I can't figure out what the problem is. Does someone has this problem too?
Thanks in advance :)

If the ATI control panel is anything like the nVIDIA one, make sure you choose to override the game's AA, not enhance it. Enhancing it worked for me for a little while, but it would always cause my game to crash. When I chose to have it override, I haven't had a problem since.

Also note that all ATI cards before the 38xx's are craptastic at AA.
Eve does not natively support AA - some people get it to work fine and for others it causes no end of problems.

Well i have an option that lets me choose between "application controlled, 2x, 4x, 6x"
So i believe that selecting 6x overrides the application in question. Anyway, isn't the X1950 past the 38xx series? ---

Edited by: Laxyr on 08/03/2009 16:15:41 As far as I know the ATI 38xx series is the second latest after the ATI 48xx series. Ati 19xx is definitely older than those two.
Anyway you might want to take a look at this Linkage
you're not the only player having this problem. Let me guess, you'Re running eve in Premium GFX mode? =)

Edited by: Sollicen on 08/03/2009 19:52:44 Edited by: Sollicen on 08/03/2009 19:51:37 The X1950 is very old, after the X1xxx series came the X2xxx series, then the X3xxx series and the current cards are the 4xxx series.
Also I had this problem on my 4850 (Random crashing with AA enabled) I don't think there's any way to fix it, eve doesn't appear to like ATI cards much.

It's not just ATI Sollicen, I get lockups & CTD's more often if I have AA enabled on my nVidia card too. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

Edited by: Eraza on 08/03/2009 21:04:19 Edited by: Eraza on 08/03/2009 21:03:43 sad to say it, but eve does not have AA in it natively for a reason
that being said, the very first thing to try should be finding the "catalist AI" setting, and disable that feature this is the filter optimizer, which replaces the filters the game wants to use, and runs more efficient ones instead, some games, and in some hardware configurations, this thing can be a pain this will lower your fps yes, but it might be the thing bothering eve for you. (obviously you want this on if it's not the thing causing the crashes)
nvidia users first of all, want to yell at the one that wrote the driver for having TWO AA settings, one for general, and one for specific games, you will want to change BOTH second, the nvidia driver itself is considered imperfect for changing advanced settings by many, enough that this exists http://www.nhancer.com/ you might want to try it out :)
