Hey just a quick one prob easy for many of u to answer. Recently got a golem and decided to try and run a dual Pith B-Type tank as i sometimes have trouble with my connection so perma tank would be helpful, and i wanted to use 4xBCU in the lows.
2x Pith B-type small shield booster 1x Caldari Navy SBA 3x Mission specific hardeners 1x Target painter
Have seen a few posts saying that 2x SBA + 2x Invul field is the best way to go, what do people recommend? and is the above setup not good enough for some missions? have checked the sticky on the golem since latest patch but focus is always on torps / cruise question
thanks

In almost all cases, specific hardeners are better than invulnerability fields; they're the lazy way out. Invulnerability fields work when you have to face a mix of damage types (say in Worlds Collide with two different factions), or if you just can't be bothered changing hardeners between missions. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

This is exactly what I use and it works like a charm.

I always find my self responding to these posts lol
personally I am running
4 siege t2
Gist A-type 100mn (result is 353m/s for me) pith B type large (like 119.somat hp/s at marauder lvl 4; EFT shows between 430-480 dpending on my hardener fit vs uniform damage type, more if I set mission type dps) Cap recharger (sometimes swapped for 4th hard for the likes of AE bonus or EA 5 of 5) target painter
3 BCS 1 PDU
the end result I am pleased with, get my missions done faster than any cruise fit I have tested and I have support skills at 5 and spec 5 on torps and cruise.
I should post my mission times to prove this as it might help ppl make decisions on my fitting. I wouldnt recommend to low missle sp pilots it take maximum skill + hardwiring and rigs to achieve
in game 38km on cn/t1 1197 dps with 5 hobs 58km on jav 970 dps or 1000 I forget as I been tinkering recently going from memory here so take it as a rough expectation u can set for yourself.
ppl will slate torps vs smaller targets but I really cant share their opinion as many lvl 4s are BS heavy, some BS I can cream in 2 volleys, BC in 1 and approaching cruisers on occasion 1.
But as I said I wouldnt recommend the fit unless u have everything at high levels for tank, gank, cap, painter skills drones, but if u have high or max everything I think this is a rough direction for winning setup, at least while lvl 4s remaing in their current state

Thats the best solution if you use 2 small Pithis. In some Missions i would swap 1 Hardener for an Invul. I use a Crystalset and 2 Pithis, 3 Hardener, 2 TPs for more Gank. I can 1 Volley some Frigs, many Cruisers and all Destroyers and Battlecruisers with it.

Spot on. To me, an afterburner is a must on a torp-golem.
I use this setup:
4x Siege II 2x Small Tractor Beam 1x Salvager
1x Gist A-Type 100mn Afterburner I 1x best named Target Painter 1x Caldari Navy X-Large Shield Booster I 3x rat specific hardener 1x Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier I
3x Caldari Navy Ballistic Control Unit I 1x Damage Control II
Granted, the tank could be better if one uses faction hardeners aswell, so you could get rid on the Damage Control II in lows. A nanofiber is a good low slot item for a torp golem. Golem going +400m/s is awesome.
I would always recommend an afterburner. AALLWAAYYSS
