Has anyone ever sat down and tried to figure out what the Dev's had originally thought of eve? If you read ship descriptions it becomes pretty clear that fleet combat was always in mind but tottally diffrent from what you see.
For instance.. The Maller and Moa are both mainly military vessels and hard to obtain. The Bellicose is suppose to command wings of Frigates.
I wonder if the 'ideal' 20 person navy would of been
14 Frigates
6 Cruisers
1 Battleship
You've got this massive battleship.. the flagship of the fleet while the bulk of your force lies in groups of frigates with cruiser support. than a group of cruisers for your big punching power.
Dunno, that's just the idea I get when I think about it... Feels like battleships where never meant to be anything but impossible to obtain for a while..

It was fun in the beta when it was like that.
Nowdays its all warp scrambling frigates, EW Battleships and Damange Battleships.
I wonder if any roleplaying corporations fly a group of ships as they were intended...
I wonder if there is any other roleplaying corporaitons that fight them with the same setup...

Since the last boatloads of battleship turret Nerfs, I have found it very comforting to have an Interceptor or cruiser escort while I am NPC hunting, or doing missions in a Battleship. The escort deals with those pesky frigates in short order, and I can work the cruisers, or battleships without having to worry about getting frigate swarmed.
It makes things go much faster. Now with drone Nerfs, it is almost a requirement to bring an escort ship along to protect a battleship from frigate, and once the missile Nerf come in, you will have to.
