If you've played much EVE at all you noticed, the beautiful and unique color schemes on the NPC ships, and I've realized that CCP has a ton of ship models that we as players can't fly. So CCP should release these ships to the Player community as Faction ships through both LP rewards and loot drops.
Here are a couple examples that come to mind.
Equilibrium of Mankind: Hydra
One of the most powerful ships wielded by EoM, the Hydra is based off the Amarrian Apocalypse Battleship. Like all EoM ships it features a combination of Amarrian defensive technologies and Caldari offensive ones. The lower energy requirements of the Hybrids enable the ship to devote much more energy to armor repairs.
Special Ability: 50% Reduction to Armor Repair Capacitor Need 5% Bonus to Hybrid Range per Caldari Battleship Level 5% Bonus to Armor Resists per Amarr Battleship Level
P.S. Being a Caldari Pilot with quite a bit of Amarrian Crosstraining I want to fly this ship at some point. There's something cool about a blue Amarrian Battleship firing hybrids. Unfortunately the ship only appears in missions so it'd only be available through an ultra-rare loot drop in the missions where you face EoM and I mean really low-probability.
Blood Raiders: Bloodier
The most common vessel in the Blood Raider Arsenal, the Bloodier is effectively a Faction Rookie Ship. Based of the Amarrian Impairor, it features significantly better performance then its rookie cousin.
Special Ability: 50% Reduction in Small Energy Turret Capacitor Need 5% Bonus to Armor Resists per Amarr Frigate Level 5% Bonus to max velocity per Minmatar Frigate Level
P.S. I like to think of the Rookie Pirate Ships as an introduction to Factional vessels. They'll be the cheapest and easiest to obtain, but also the least practical. Even with these bonuses its a crummy little Impairor underneath after all.
Serpentis: Soldier
The Soldier like the vast majority of Serpentis vessels is a ship derived from the Gallente Navy. Based off the Catalyst class Destroyer. The Soldier is a formidable close combatant meant to get in the face of the enemy and tear them to shreds with its blasters.
Penalty: -25% rate of fire for all turrets Bonus: 50% bonus to optimal range for small hybrid turrets 5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret Damage per Gallente Frigate Level 5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret Tracking per Minmatar Frigate Level
P.S. Pirate Destroyers would probably be pretty desirable among Alliance and hard core fleet operators, because there is no real T2 dedicated anti-frigate platform. Interdictors are tacklers. This type of ship is a frigate hunter.
Guristas: Serpent
Based off the Caldari Condor, the Serpent is a fast moving pseudo interceptor. Popular among its crews, the ship remains one of the fastest factional vessels yet produced for the Guristas.
Special Ability: 50% Bonus to Light missile and Rocket Velocity. 5% Bonus to Light missile and Rocket damage per Caldari Frigate Level 5% Bonus to Max Velocity per Gallente Frigate Level
P.S. The Condor has held a special place in my heart, since I used to take mine into deep low-sec ratting. This Guristas variant would only improve those qualities, whilst whoever owned it waited to get hold of an interceptor.
So what do you guys think, could we get CCP to actually use some of those NPC models to give us plebs some more faction ships to fly.

There are plenty of unique ship hulls that are only available to npc rats, like the Lynx, Fury, Echo, Medusa, Swordspine and Ixion ships. That's all even before we begin to look at CONCORD, Jove or SOCT ships. To me, it would make more sense to let us fly these ships before recolouring other hulls.
That said, CCP are looking into bringing faction Destroyers and Battlecruisers into EvE, so you'll have something to look forward to there. |

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Allow players to use all the hulls the NPCs get, most of which would become new factional ships. Though I think the new sleeper NPCs could be an exception due to their sheer technical superiority to anything else fielded, or they'd have T3 skill requirements.
Though the requirements for some ships as faction vessels would be immense. Think about if you were flying a Concord Battleship. Because you'd be flying a ship that is the combined effort and technology of all four major races, you'd need. Caldari Battleship, Amarr Battleship, Gallente Battleship, and Minmatar Battleship in order to field it, plus each skill would provide a unique racial bonus.

Don't know anyone who would disagree with this.
Extreme rarity of more ships could play a part in controlling the games performance, since it could become a problem is hypothetically you have 100 ships on screen with completely unique models and textures.

That problem is largely counteracted simply because the proposed idea is merely reusing graphical resources currently exclusively utilized by npc combatants. Basically the proposal states that if we can see an NPC fielded ship of a unique design it may be possible to obtain that ship through various means, be it the rookie blood raider version of the impairor, or Concord's rapid response battleships.
I was thinking about this for awhile and something else occurred to me. Rogue drones are certainly never going to be pilotable vessels, but they could be reprogrammed and utilized as fighters for a mothership type vessel. That would be an interesting possibility, rogue drone frigates as faction fighters for use by carriers and mother ships.
I'm thinking about putting together a list of all the various ships that could be introduced using those npc ship models, and it'd be quite a long one I think. But it'd be less time consuming then if they had to design whole new ship models for each faction vessel.
