I have no problem making large quantites of isk selling items while I sleep. You will be surprised how much extra players will pay to save themselves 4 jumps.I really don't see what the problem is with Industrialists is. The only real problem is its not your characters skills that make him a successful manufacture its yours

Again, its been said before but take some stuff to lower sec, hell even use a MWD frig for it. Its fun charging double/triple price for it, or you could just go out to the Boonies. Then you can always try the almighty Regionwide crappy buy order for minerals, you would be amazed at how many people will sell the ore to it.

I agree specialization will drop the competition extrem. Currently everybody can produce cheap in a short time (PE skill level 4). It's the same with other professions (science etc). How many players joined Eve with the dream to become the best scientist, the best producer...? And now we are all almost the same!
I do believe an extreme degree of specialization could improve the situation. I think about producers/scientists specialized in propulsion, frigate construction, shield tech etc. Tech 2 is going into this direction although I am not happy with the way t2 blueprints come into the game. I do believe the way of specialization could help the newbie to find his area where he must not compete with all the vets but only with a limited number.
On the other hand I agree with those who say there are still great profit margins. It all depends on the location you are selling. Two jumps can make a huge difference. The veteran doesnt care if he pays 100-200k more for a 100mn microwarpdrive 2 jumps away. He buys it at the station he needs it and shoots 1 more rat in 0.0 afterwards.
btw Steeloptik, I will leave my current location. It was nice to deal with you although we never talked about it. I guess you made good profit a few jumps away in the east. After one year with excellent margins I will try the production game in a core system.
