It would really be much easier if there would be a simple non gui patch solution with an xdelta file or so. How about SVN Patching (Subversion) ? It supports binary updates too.

Originally by: Temm Pesst I'm running under Wine, myself, and found the following link SUPER useful:

One-file patch from QR to Apocrypha.
Enjoy!

as a bonus it appears no one is using this route, i just got this file at an average of 2.5 MB/sec :)

If you're stuck at the -2 error (BITS) while trying to update from 84063 to 84244 try this manual patch- it worked for me:

Oh, yes now I see it. Some process background wine process without any usefull output had blocked my network. Now I download at full speed too :D
But it would really be much easier to have access to a list of such files through some eve-patch pages, than guessing the name of such a file and download it. Or where can one see the availability of these files ?

CCP isn't going to do that (no linux support, tho i think its clear they did test in wine a bit), someone could by getting a diff of the patched version vs old version, lest we forget this is windows and that doesn't take care of any required changes to registry keys

It should be quite easy to write a simple patching client, that "even" works on any system (wine/windows/mac, Texas Instruments Calculator chip, whatever)
Registry keys should be easily modifiable by simple text input. I really don't know why those windows guys must add magic to even the simplest operations.

I followed through it after you posted it :P
I have the arial fonts in the ./wine/drive_c/wind~.... folder, but that doesnt seem to be helping :(
Is there any other thing that could be causing the symptom? Or that just implies I have incorrect files?

Did you install just arial or all fonts ? If you will install corefonts everything should work good.

gentoo, so I emerged corefonts, and then copied the (4) arial*.ttf files across to the wine fonts folder (root/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts)
Anything that would have missed?

Edited by: Valandril on 10/03/2009 15:28:15 Well if you want them from portage then you shouldn't just copy them but symlink instead ln -s /usr/share/fonts/TTF/Arial* ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts
If it won't work, there is always winetricks ;)

How does one apply that WINE patch? i get a text file, but no instructions on how to compile it or what to name it, or anything. Unless I'm just missing it. ---- Fix the Wardec System! |

Copied all the available fonts over - still no luck. Tried getting wintricks prior to all this, however (for unknown reasons) I am unable to connect to the internap.dl.sourceforge directory where it is hosted - however sourceforge is where I downloaded corefonts from without drama - so not sure whats up there.

If you mean winetricks, 'sh winetricks corefonts' should do it - but it hates me :(

Sorry, I should have been more clear.
I meant the ATI patch for WINE to allow users to see the ships in game. I have the file. I have figured out that it is supposed to be named "atiglsl.patch" but I don't know how to proceed from there. ---- Fix the Wardec System! |

If you can't see any Models you need to apply this patch to your wine sources and compile wine again. (Just like Ravow stated numerous times above)
Gentoo Users: you can use a portage overlay to apply the patch. (this comes also from Ravow, updated by me) * Install Layman # echo "app-portage/layman subversion" >> /etc/portage/package.use # emerge -av layman
* Modify make.conf # echo source /usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf >> /etc/make.conf
* Update Layman and list layman # layman -L
* Install gentoo-quebec overlay # layman -a gentoo-quebec
* Unmask wine ~ * "**" will install the git version (this step is optional if you have 1.1.16 unmasked already) # echo "app-emulation/wine **" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
* install wine # emerge -av wine
* it will automagically switch to the overlay version and apply the apocrypha patch |
