I wonder whats the performance using premium-lite, on FX5200 or similar crappy cards
I come from classic and it was smooth.

Edited by: EmpressShiva on 10/03/2009 14:25:03 It should be fine, the only difference is there will be use of sm 2.0 effects. you probably won't have any drop unless CCP went wild with combat effects. |

Edited by: Botia Macracantha on 10/03/2009 14:32:37 The main issue will be poor laptop users like me having to work around old drivers (I am IT numpty so not looking forward to that). Yes, my geforce 7400 go is SUPPOSED to do SM3 - but it doesn't using the "latest" drivers from Sony (2006).
I tested it and upgraded to premium last night before DT and had the "everything with textures in space is white" bug. If premium lite doesnt fix that I am faced with piddling around with trying to force more up to date drivers - no doubt screwing my PC up along the way. And even if successful, how long before the GPU melts ?

Edited by: Schive on 10/03/2009 14:42:49 Im running ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility (128 mb ram) on a 1.7 mhz machine, packed to max at 2gb ram... i certainly hope i get to run the lite version, with just a tiny litle nice GFX to look at :S
Anyone know how to get the absolutely latest updated driver for this card ?? (runnin a Zepto Z-Note 4200 system)
Edit: Ya, im a laptop user :P At OP: Thanks for opening a GFX card question btw :) pretty relevant actually :)

Last i checked, the 9700 was as capable as the 9600, with full sm2 support. |

Why not check Omega Drivers to see if they have something you can use instead of the craptastic ones you will get from your hardware vendor?

he has a mobile chip, those drivers afaik do not support em.
I'm pretty sure there is a website out there with hacked GO chipset drivers for laptops, I suggest you search around during downtime. |

Check Nvidia.com for drivers for the GeForce cards. all Nvidia cards are supported by their unified driver system.
Also there has been some performance tweaking in the Apoc client. you shouldnt see much of a paeformance drop with it. Remember to turn off shadows, HDR and bloom and set Shader and Textures to LOW (ESC Menu)
For better looks, move textures up to high, then shader, then turn on the options in that order. shadows HDR and bloom are the FPS killers on low end and older cards

For those who are stuck with laptops which have terrible video driver update records (READ: all of them). You will need to look into 3rd party modded drivers installers or .inf files.
For files and instructions I would recommend a site like Laptopvideo2go
There you just select which card you have Nvidia or ATI and download the latest driver and a modded .inf file. The site includes instructions on how to install the driver and they should work on the majority of systems. This problem is nothing new and is not specific to EVE, pretty much any new game will have issues with laptop drivers.
