Edited by: Forty Three on 10/03/2009 17:03:28 I am terribly saddened to hear of the catastrophic incident that took place in the Federation system of Seyllin, and I send my deepest condolences on behalf of myself and the Masuat'aa. I hope the sector will be able to stabilise itself without delay and the suffering will be curbed as soon as possible.
To the Empire, who seek to hide their attrocities and make themselves look nice by sending a token rescue team, I would like to say that you fool no one. Today has seen a fantastic humanitarian effort in the face of this crisis, and I must say I am less than impressed with the empire's efforts at PR. On the other hand, I tip my hat at the Serpentis Corporation, who have truly shown they wish to put past differences aside, however briefly, and send a proper rescue team, without making flamboyant announcements and merely pretending they care. -----------------------------------------------

Really Forty Three, I would have thought that even the Ushra Khan wouldn't stoop so low as to use an incident such as this as an excuse to take a cheap shot at the Empire.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

I accept your condolances as a Federation citizen but just this once I reject your jab at the Amarr offer of help. When even Tibus Heth, biggot that he is, shows tact torward us, that's probably a sign that this is more important than political divisions.

Was it not Amarrian extremists who were calling this cataclysm a punishment from God and all but welcoming the death and destruction that it wrought? Though I will admit I find this attempt by Forty Three to be somewhat callous, there are those among your society who are equally opportunistic. If your God is as cruel as to inflict such a punishment on non-believers, it is simply further proof that it's an insane tyrant, not worthy of respect or worship. ----- Andreus Ixiris Duty.

Hmm, lets see now. The Empire and the Federation are at war.
The Empress offers assistance, and had a fleet ready to move, should President Foiritan give the word.
The logistics capabilities of that fleet could probably have moved a substantially greater number of people off planet than was achieved.
President Foiritan did not give the word. Blame Foiritan.
Meanwhile, Shakor diverts all assets to look for the missing caravan. True, that they're his own people, so would take priority.
However: Substantial amounts of Minmitar Fleet assets, such as the ones along the Republic/Federation border, would not be in a realistic position to assist in the Great Wildlands, and would be much closer to Seyllin.
Therefore: It's a major snub to an ally in their time of need. One that cost many more lives.
Conclusion: Foiritan and Shakor are irresponsible, and the sooner they're removed from their offices, the better for the people of the cluster as a whole.

Those goofballs call everything a punishment from God. Jovians destroy the Fleet - it's God's punishment. Emperor Doriam assassinated - God's punishment. Equilibrium of Man destroy planets - God's punishment. Minmitar Elder Fleet invades - God's punishment. Indigestion after a heavy meal - God's punishment. Laundry doesn't turn out perfectly clean - God's punishment.
Giving them the oxygen of publicity is always a mistake.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
You have no right to speak of 'stooping so low'. You have shown time and again that any semblance of humanity you had left has been abandoned long ago. I do have my shames and regrets, just like anybody else, but if I am not ashamed at the thousands of lives I end daily to fight for what I believe, I should hardly be ashamed of pointing out facts as I see them.

It is appalling what happened, but even more disturbing is the political rhetoric that is flying about what has happened. No amount of ships from the Caldari, Amarrians, or Republic would have changed one thing that happened their rather it would have most likely have caused even more damage than was already done and a greater loss of life.
The simplest reason was the fact that the ports were full and no more ships could land. Why in heavens name would any more ships in orbit flying about help anything. We already saw the overcrowding result in accidental collisions between drop ships. Imagine now all these empires crowded together bumping together and more deaths from accidents. Now realize that there are generation long enemies that are bumping, it wouldnÆt take much to have people think that it was done on purpose and some fool of a pilot shooting a warning shot to turn the rescue operation into a war zone.
Fortran was wise in his decline for those reasons alone. Stop behaving foolishly trying to prove some nations action was proof of your feelings. Everything that could have been done was done for those people and we should mourn for them. I knew no one on Seyllin I or anyone that died this tragic day, yet I still mourn. I despise the Gallente for their occupation of the Caldari home world but I do not wish this catastrophe to befall anyone.

Well then, from an Amarrian to all peoples who have suffered from these catastrophes, I give my true and sincere condolences. Please do ignore the somewhat tactless portions of our society; they at times speak their minds without due consideration to the consequences, like a few capsuleers I know. I suggest you pay more attention to Heir Artico Kor-Azor's statement and to the volumes spoken by the lack of acknowledgment given to the God's Righteousness Conclave by our Empress and others. I should think that they are much better representatives of our Empire than that particular group. Take LouellaÆs rather humorous statement as your solace; I agree with her myself.
And as for your claims that the aid gesture was hollow, it may very well have been, but only so if the Empress knew the Gallente would ignore the offer. Really I cannot blame them for not accepting our help, considering the diplomatic travesty that was Heir KadorÆs ôinvasionö.
Anyway, again, my condolences.

The... situation in Seylinn is truly a saddening one.
To those who claim the Empire was just sending assistance for 'PR value': It takes considerable resources to mobilize a fleet to standing conditions. Do you think those resources would have been spent if it wasn't actually expected that the fleet would be going somewhere?
(Although Pilot Lenasha makes a very good argument about why it would have been pointless for the fleet to deploy, even if they had been given the go-ahead by the Gallente.)
To those who say it was some kind of divine massacre: Do you, really truly, believe that there were no good people on that planet? They may not have called themselves Amarr, but there were certainly kind, caring, thoughtful, and peaceful men and women down there. For them to be lost to this... thing... is a loss for all of us.
To the Serpentis Corperation, ORE, and the Caldari State: Congratulations. Honestly, I'm not being sarcastic here - you have managed to set aside long standing, bitter arguments (in the case of the Caldari), short-term lawlessness and disrespect (in the case of Serpentis) and a preoccupation with profit (for ORE) to realise the truth that a life is worth more than all those things combined.
And to the People of the Gallente Federation, ORE Corperation, and Thukker Tribe: I realise that few of you will see this message, and of those that do many will disagree with me on a great many things, but I still send you my true condolences, especially to those who lost friends, family, and lovers in these disasters. There is no replacement for such losses.

Today, among the crude pain we have been and are suffering, we have seen some lights. The reaction of Serpentis, Caldari and the Ammar Empire itself has been kind and generous. As a Gallente, my most sincere thanks to all them.
But my most deeply sorrow for the inexplicable attitude of the Republic. Our "Matar brothers", those who we have helped in every occasion they have been in danger, they have forgotten any fellowship today and have shown themselves as utterly indiferent to the lives of 500 millions of friend Gallenteans, and to the hearts of all the Federation.
They had their problems, true, but we have had nor help nor condolence words from them. We have received a lot more conmiseration from our enemies than from our supposed friends. For me, this has been enough; I won't consider Minmatar fellows and friends any longer.
And for the Caldari side... I trully hope this incredibly sorrowful day supposes the beginning of a new era, based on the humanity we have experienced today. Because I want to think this day can bring something positive to New Eden.

I don't know where to begin. I can't decide whether to pay tribute to the dead first, or to say how inexpressably proud I am of Ishukone for the example they - we - set to the rest of the State today.
The first, I think. But the words fail me. When the spirits of space - when the very stars themselves - decide to remove humanity from their skies, they need only exercise a fraction of their power, and even the greatest of our efforts is a... a defiant shout against the blizzard.
So many voices took up that shout today. That of the Ishukone watch was not the loudest, nor the first... but it was the only Caldari voice that made itself truly heard, offering as it did some practical aid, rather than vague promises. The corporation I gave the first of my lives to, giving in kind for the greater good of people other than their own. True altruism - the virtue I personally hold among the very highest.
I only wish I could have done anything at all to help. Even carrying a ship-load of medical personnel to a Watch station in the Federation would have been enough. I don't like being a spectator. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |
