You most likely do not have enough free space on partition where your TEMP system folder is located. I had the same issue and when i relocated sys variables it started downloading. What will happen next is yet to bee seen... i do not believe i'm gonna play for at least a day more...

Well, i have 3,5GB free space on hdd...
The updater still brings every 100MB the message i posted in the topic.

I have on all my hdds at least 90 GB up to 500 GB free to a total of a couple TB but i also get that message, its simply a bad worked out torrentt downloader. Even if blizzard and wow do serve another genre atm they at least got a hang of torrent downloading and patches within a lot less time...
Anyway, the problem is not caused by your hdd space only even if that was the original intention.

so, go on then, please tell a noob how to allocate more space to TEMP or clear some space so that the download has some elbow room.

Running Vista, right? Try to add an exclusion to your firewall for updater's .exe file - it worked for me.

I had the same issue...checked my HD 630MB free...cleared my recycle bin(15.5GB doh!)...Works fine

For me the problem disappeared when I cleaned up my C drive so that it had 4gb disk space available, even though I tell the installer to download to a completely different drive. It's downloading now at a respectable 400kb/s.
Don't you just love programs that download to your temp folder, especially after you tell them otherwise? :P

I'm having the same problem with a PC that runs the classic version. I've attempted to download it from the game and fallback installer. Both randomly stop and i get the same error. The bittorrent link from the fallback installer page is dead. I have over 300GBs free on this system.
My PC running the premium version downloaded the upgrade and installed without problems. Over 500GBs free on this one.
Hey CCP ... the SCRUM development method has not improved your QA one bit. The LAG in game is attrocious!!!

i fixed the problem by ignoring the errors that occur while download
just press retry or continue (dont remember the name)
i had to press it like 5 times in the whole download
after that everything is fine
