I installed the patch fine. Started the game fine. Everything was fine, until i logged off to switch character. Game froze, had to control alt delete the game, then once i tried to restart the game it refused to re-load. The initial screen starts up, but once that swaps for the real game nothing happens and it just remains as an icon on my taskbar while doing nothing.
Have deleted Cache and restarted computer to no effect. safe mode does not run as well.

Im getting the same issue as well, game will no longer load, it just sits on my taskbar and I hear the background music play, Ive also deleted the cache and restarted, nethier client will run.

I ran the premium client with "/end /LUA:OFF" and it started up, it removed ALL of my settings, however.

got the same bug and /LUA:OFF worked for me too
sucks for the settings though :(

alos having the exact same issue. trhis has happened to me before and i've posted about it i beleive. anyhow ive tried all the workarounds already and still nothing. any new ideas?

Reinstalling does not always work. I suggest running the client with the settings I posted earlier, it'll run, then you can restart and run it normally. It'll just reset your overview and UI settings.

I have done this, then spent half an hour categorizing 800 bookmarks and the overview.
Eve still wont run without the additional commands

Right click your Eve shortcut, properties and under 'target' add that \end etc to the end of the command string there.
Job done.

Im a F**king ******. The game is working, Just out of viablity on desktop. If your having this issue, Open the game, wait for 10secs and press alt+enter. See you ingame.

Anyone know if CCP will consider crediting a few days to make up for the training I lost because I didn't realize you now have to press alt+enter to SEE THE DAMN GAME... |

Having run dxdiag, I apparently don't have D3D

The Alt + Enter thing worked.

Very weird...I've never EVER had problems with EVE over the 3 and a half years I've been playing but this one popped up today. Alt-enter worked for me.

Try installing DirectX 9.0c again, this might enable/install D3D you can download it from the Microsoft website, other than that i would not know how to fix this issue. Getting a new card might be the only solution if this does not work.
- This is something different than the issue the rest of the people have in this thread.

I have the same issue but am Running windows 7, with a brand new system and a brand new vid card. I'm glad that atleast i'm not the only one with this issue. Alt+enter doesn't work
I'll try rolling back directX patch

Ok I have just had a similar problem, new client installed but when running the game got the splash screen then it stayed minimised at the bottom. Worked through all the advice to no avail
Eventually found this:
Hi,
We use to have the same problem with Netsupport. After viewing the client screen DirectX was disabled.
If it happens again check this setting in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control l\Graphics\DCI
Make sure Timeout is set to 7.
Netsupport was setting that value to 0, which was disabling DirectX.
If it is 0, change it to 7, then restart the PC, should fix the problem.
Which fixed my problem: Hope it helps someone.
