Edited by: Victor Valka on 11/03/2009 07:09:48 I looking for some assurance from my peers on this forum, that the method I use for calculating the cost of producing 1 run of T2 BPC is correct and takes everything it should into account.
I use the following formula:
(((dc1_cost + dc2_cost) * size_mult + decrypt_cost + meta_cost) / BPC_runs) * (1 / success_chance) The variables are reasonably self-explanatory.
So. Great Success or not?
Edit: Forgot one variable.

seems correct, except for the missing station costs (if doing it in a station)

Looks fine, provided you adjust your success chance when you change decryptor, and also take into account what the decryptor does to the build cost. Not always is having a lower invention cost better.

Those get deduced from monthly profit as operational cost.
Thanks for feedback so far!

I invent modules and I don't use decryptors for that (Should I?). The variable is there to make the formula more flexible, in case I decide to move forward to ship invention.

I haven't come across a case where it would be worth using a decryptor in module invention, doesn't mean there isn't one though.
For ships it can make quite a difference to build cost as well as invention cost.
Some invented items the BPC is worthless because the savings you make by going to a BPC with better ME are greater than the invention cost ;)

That's what I'd gathered.
Thanks for confirming.

You have to double that if you're inventing some missiles, where one is total crap and the other will make a profit.

You get to choose which type you want to invent.

You do still get those late night, "oops I chose what I wanted from the drop-down list, but then when I selected an invention facility it reset to whatever the default was so now I invented this stupid BPC that I don't want" moments.
