Ok this is more of a rant at the horrible way in which CCP handled the burning of high sec or whatever the goddamn hell is going on. Yes, I have no ******* clue what the hell is going on in high sec that is supposedly big news because I had no opportunity to view it. Why? read on:
Now I'm not the most hardcore player, but not the most casual either, in fact I was logged in last night doing level 3's with my corp mates. However sometime in the last 16 hours since I last logged off, CCP decided to deploy a new patch. Fine, I like patches, part of why we pay a subscription fee, new features, etc....
Problem was it didn't install through the launcher (yes it was a new launcher instance, I never leave it open as I never know when there's a new patch so I always close it). So when I hit the login screen, I see the high sec travel advisory and the typical "this advertisement will display only once" behind a "new client update avaible client update #2" popup; which of course does not allow me to get at the information I'm simply dying to find out about at this point. Click "OK" and try and spam the ad to click it but being counter spammed by other new popups saying the client must restart. As I feared when the client restarted the ad was gone, and so was my only link.
At this point I didn't worry too much, I figured if CCP is going to burn down High Sec, or any part of it, they'll post something in the news......nope, not a goddamn thing.
Really CCP? what the **** were you thinking, put up what some would consider critical information which would be inaccessible by a patch so I'm left in the goddamn dark....especially since getting a timely response in a petition is completely based upon whoever's ******* mood at the time.
All this aggrivation just to get a little bit of information......
and I know someone's going to ask, google was utterly worthless, you try sorting through all that bullsh!t. |

Hm OP, you raise a good point. The one-time only announcements being negated by automatic popups leading to you being unable to see it sounds like a problem.
Maybe they can not trigger the client to disable the ad if the client is not of the newest version?

That would only be too logical.....but in my experience people tend to do the opposite. But yes, that was my basic point, very problematic.....and just plain stupid. |

Just avoid jita, or at least don't bring anything expensive.
Post in that "I wnat your little things" thread about this. I think CCP can fix things and it sounds worth while some consideration, so post it there,

avoid jita and it's neighboring systems for the next couple of days if you value your ship and or cargo

First of all, it isn't CCP's job to keep you informed of what other players are doing. Secondly, this has been talked about constantly both on the forum and in-game and it would take truly epic levels of willful ignorance not to know about it at this point. |

oh where in game? in every local chat in 5,000 systems? I don't troll the forums, i check here for info when I can find it and post when I need to....that's it. Not everyone has a social network of hundreds of friends nor is local always filled with talkative people. Get a clue. And add to that they went through the trouble to post the ad and get my attention and me all riled up in the first place, least they could do is let me read the goddamn thing. |
