Sin:
I had an idea for PVP in a Sin (Black Ops BS) and looking for some help flushing it out.
High Slots: 4-5 Smart Bombs + 1 Cloaking Device. Mids: Webifier + Warp Disruptor + Cap Rechargers + 100MWD Lows: Nano-Membranes, 1600mm Armor plates, Armor Rep.
Drones: At least 5 of each: Large, Medium, and Small Combat Drones.
Purpose: Solo Ganking Targets: Frigates/Cruisers/Battle Cruisers. The idea is to move up cloaked to someone, tackle them then start flacking Large Smart Bombs.
Drone utilization to assign to a 2nd ship, if there is more than one, to force them to flee/kite the Drones away.
Looking for feedback on this idea.
Thanks in advance.

Thats a pretty horrible plan to be honest.

Why is it a horrible plan?
I'm pretty much given that the people on these forums know, at least, a little better than I do.

Cause upon decloaking, your sensors need time to recalibrate before you can target something. During which time your prey will have warped off.

Yeah, this is gonna fail horribly. I the idea behind your strategy, and that's great, but practically there are too many flaws.
The first and biggest is that when you decloak you cannot instantly start locking targets. Black Ops BS is not the same as a BS.
Second your DPS is divided into Smart Bombs and Drones. Lets assume for the sake of argument that you can insta target. Those 2 damage types don't work very well together. What if you have a solo target you want to take down? Your smart bombs will pop your drones. If you only use one or the other you are only doing half damage effectively;.

Forget lock time issues, you aren't going to even get there to worry about it. The moment you warp in (uncloaked, since you can't use the covops cloak), your target will warp out and laugh at you for using such a terrible ship.
If you're not using the jump drive, get a Dominix. More tank, more dps, much less cost.
If you're using the jump drive, get a Thanatos. Vastly more tank, much more dps, more versatility, faster lock time, longer jump range, and only moderately higher cost once insurance is included. -----------

He doesn't need to lock the smaller targets. But anything bigger than a cruiser will probably win in a fight against this fitting anyway. The web and scrambler are probably superfluous.

its a good start though. You're thinking and doing research as to how to fit a ship, especially such an advanced ship as a Sin.
A cloak is good for two things: spying on enemy fleet movements and getting away in a flash.

I found the flaw in your plan right there
Everything you mentioned can be easily and probably better done in a dominix
Edit: @ merin.. The "jump drive" you talk about on a thanatos is also on black ops (meaning they can cyno out). I think you mean the "covert jump bridge portal", which carriers can't use (and which sucks on blackops because of range :P )

No, I mean the jump drive, which is why I said "if you ARE using it, get a Thanatos". For example, if you plan on using the Sin to hide in another system and jump in once your scout finds a target, you can do it just as well, if not better, with the Thanatos.
The jump bridge is an entirely different issue, but I don't think the OP is talking about cargo expanded non-combat setups for his shiny new toy. -----------

1 Thing people her seem to have forget is that Black Ops DON'T have delay on targeting then they get out from cloak... but as other saying it cant warp cloaked....

Originally by: Nostalus idea for PVP in a Sin .. Smart Bombs
I have to disagreed with most replies so far, and agree that the idea is very good. Just needs some tuning.
With smart bombs the goal should be fast kills; prolonged fights needing a lock and tackling should be exceptions. Also with valuable ship like BO you need to pay attention to survivability.
Bonus points if you were thinking about BO's unique special abilities: no weapon/target delay after decloak, and BS with high speed while cloaked. Meaning you can sneak close to some hostile group, align, and then in about two seconds go through decloak + smartbomb + warp away sequence, unlike any other ship in Eve.
So for tuning: - Sin won't do; you'll need either Panther or Redeemer for the eight highs. Difference between 7 and 5 smarties is huge. - For fitting, MWD (ds/officer for cap), injector(s), scrambling (prevents MWD), and perhaps some ECM variant - For lows: forget tank; if you in situation where it would matter you are likely to die anyway. Go for speed/nano/support way. Even warp stabs would do, but CPU won't allow. Just go to stations for those rare repairs.
- For drones first survivability (ECM drones), then some damage as (Hammerheads/Warrior)
The ship shines even more if you got an alt account. Consider options of: - Lowskill cyno alt in throw-away kestrel - Proper alt with an interdictor
-Lasse back in his old trade

The smartbomb battleship idea is an interesting one. Certainly the Panther works well with that
I remember Heikki used to have a pimped out mega with faction smartbombs in HED. And several times I was entertaining idea of building similar setup.
