Where do I find Premium Lite?
I've uninstalled eve in order to reinstall from scratch but I can only find eve premium (downloading that anyway to see if it makes a difference)

Install Premium, run it with low settings (it will auto-detect if your card supports SM2 or SM3 ----

No, they've managed to put both clients in just one package (understandable, considering that it's all "Premium" now. They just need to know which Shader Model the video card supports to decide if it runs like Lite or not.) ----

There is only one client now after Apocrypha with different graphics settings in the esc menu options. If you only have a SM2 graphics card then the graphics settings should automatically adjust to low 'lite' settings (we need to revise our terminology post-apocrypha when it comes to premium vs classic and such :)).

You should get rid of the "Premium" in the next iteration and just call it "Eve client" again ----

I agree, watch for how graphic card cost goes, and if you can, and SM3 cards go to like 10$, keep the settings as low/medum/high, but make everythign sm3 or nothing so we can finally get those particle effects you keep showing off :(
and then just call it eve client again.

Because installing a $10 video card into a laptop is easy.

Edited by: Rhapsody Starbringer on 21/03/2009 13:35:46 I downloaded the new client, and wondered where Premium Lite was too... My PC could just about run Classic properly (after I upgraded to 2Gb RAM about 2 weeks before the patch). My specs are all better than the new minimum requirements for Apocrypha and I have all settings on absolute minimum. I get a massive 7.5 fps when sat in station, and about half that when I undock! EvE has become unplayable with this latest installment, and I can't afford to upgrade now for months... other stuff like bills etc keeps getting in the way...
Means nothing to the rest of you but just wanted to have a quick rant and say, Thank You CCP!

The Nvidia 5 series are the lowest possible cards you can use I think. Why not get something like this? Relatively cheap and you should be able to run with all the settings at least on medium if not higher.

Edited by: Asuka Smith on 21/03/2009 13:51:16 If I recall I upgraded off of the 5200FX 256 because it was not able to run WC3: The Frozen Throne at maximum settings.
I currently have the EVGA 8600GS and it runs the game at 1280x1024 on high settings unless I get into a fleet fight and then (as with ANY card) I turn it all to absolute minimum in advance.

Nice idea... but AGP only lol
Anyone know if its better to run in fullscreen or windowed? I've tried both and can't make my mind up which is better. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This will work just fine. However, it sounds like you need to save some money and buy a new PC if you're still on AGP

I upgraded myGeforce 5900 to an ATi X1650 Pro AGP for $50 CAN, and it runs eve great.
AGP are harder to find, but not impossible. try places like NewEgg or NCIX

Have you considered Awesome and Crappy, or possibly Noble and Mobile, maybe Real and Ball-Lickingly Luddite?
I've run some focus groups on these and they were generally deemed inoffensive, aside from that one guy who... well, best not to speak ill of the dead.

yeah... I have an fx5700 card on the alt pc, which was fine as a scout hauler... but has broken SM2 and so was forced to upgrade with apox.
The x1650 ati is a handy agp card, but not all that cheap... and is broken in a lot of situations... Try setting AGP 4x to get it to work...
Once it's working then it's fine as an upgrade.

I've got an EVGA Gforce 7600 256mb vid card, says it's shader model 3, but I still run everything on low anyhow, since I tend to have a lot of programs open. I may dual log eve or run eve alongside working in photoshop with about 10 firefox tabs open or whatnot.
So I usually just stay low settings anyhow. Plus I think I am better off... 'I think' since the Gforce 7600 256mb is on the low end of shader 3.0 cards.

Bought a 9800GT for about $95usd off of new egg, nice 90ish fps in EVE at 1280x1024. Need a better cpu though, using a single core that's about 3 years old now.
